We stayed here for 2 nights in august. It was at least a 20minute walk from the train station. Lovely small hotel, good quiet location near the Duomo cathedral. Our problem was with the air con, when you book in you are only given one key card, which you need to start the air-con. This was a big problem as...

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed it. We got a lovely room on the second floor, big room with a lovely bathroom, shower was great. Breakfast was ok not a huge choice but its a small hotel so we expected that. Location was brilliant we walked everywhere all the attractions are within walking distance. Whenever we...

Stayed here for a couple of nights during Apr and was pleasantly surprised, mainly by the availability of internet that wasn't advertised - it is wired internet (not wireless) so only useful if you have your own laptop - you need to ask about it and the reception provides you with a wire and a network setup info card (yes,...

Hotel in very convenient location to Duomo, but a little off the beaten path of most hotels in Florence. This is a family run operation. Father and Mother very kind but do not speak English. Two daughters work there and speak English very well. Hotel was clean and room was spacious. Bring your own shampoo and don't expect a lot...

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and really enjoyed the room itself. It was very comfortable, nice linens, big fluffy towels, good sized modern bathroom. The bedroom was impressive with large windows and a chandelier. Breakfast was ok - one type of meat only, bread to toast with jam/nutella, pastries, juice, cereal. They made us a capuccino or...

The customer is always right is a concept invented by a customer. He's right who is polite, courteous and sympathetic to anyone who is doing a job in which the client is not competent. Why after 12 hours spent smiling, explain, listen, answer the phone, respond to email and, in the midst of all this, groped to work while the...

We found Hotel Il Duca by accident, and great luck! My mother had an accident on arriving in Italy and was confined to a wheelchair. She had made arrangements to stay in an apartment on Via della Pergola, but couldn't make it up the stairs. My brother walked down the street and found Il Duca. They could not have been...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
