Villa La Mucchia is positioned near Cortona in the heart of Tuscany, the town that became famous after the book and the movie “Under the Tuscan sun” by Frances Mayes. The Tuscany authentic style vacation house, originally built in 1760 is placed at the foot of the town of Cortona, which is an excellent spot for short day trips, because of the short distance to most of the cities around, such as: Montepulciano, Assisi, Florence, Siena, Perugia, the Lake of Trasimeno and Castiglione del lago, Pienza (Unesco heritage town) and many others. Within less then hour drive you can reach most of them. The holidays farmhouse, which was converted to suites hotel, is currently divided into seven luxurious individual apartments, in authentic Tuscan style, bounded by lawns, gardens, olive grove and other seasonal crops. The property includes parking, a children's play ground, splendid swimming pool surrounded by nature and views, sun terraces with views of Cortona city of Art.

This was our second stay at La Mucchia. My wife and I traveled with another couple and we were there for nine days. The rooms were first rate and our package included breakfast and dinner - prepared expertly. The hosts, two brothers and their wives, were terrific and provided transportation to beautiful locations such as Florence, Montepulciano and Sienna. We learned a lot of the culture and our hosts were very interesting and informative about that. I highly recommend La Mucchia to anyone interested in a great vacation under the Tuscan sun!

Our first two visits were so wonderful we just had to come back again. The excellent level of service has been consistent over the years. The owners were so helpful and knowledgeable. There is now a dining room on site and we enjoyed the most wonderful meals. The apartments are beautifully decorated. You know you are in Tuscany the moment you pass through the doorway. We had guided excursions every day and learned so much about the history and beauty of Tuscany. We are already planning our next trip. This is the ideal starting point for your tours of Tuscany.

Our friends, Diane and Carl! When you arrived for the first time, we felt so comfortable with you and we hoped to see you once again after you left from Arezzo. We did not imagine that we shall see you twice after your first visit. It was such wonderful to see you again, but what was most astonishing was the review and the cards we received by mail. We appreciate so much your wonderful words, so touching and straight from your heart. Thank you D and C. a big hug from all of us.

I spent 8 full days at this villa. The hosts are 2 couples, brothers and their wives. They live at the villa and are hands on hosts. Each apartment (where we stayed) had full amenities and very modern accommodations. The owners couldn't have been friendlier. The grounds are gorgeous with a large pool, gardens to stroll thru and patios to just relax. Great for a home base to travel thru Tuscany.

Room Tip: Three floors of apartments. Ground floor apartments would be better for anyone that can't...

This villa surpassed all ordinary expectations of a restored 300 year old structure. Flourishing with flowers, with super host attention, and with large and small art everywhere; this pleased with beauty, friendship, and fresh local cuisine. The owners seemed like welcoming family, easily chatting with us and making sure we were transported to all our desired excursions. From big cities like Florence and Siena, to a thermal spa, to little town farm markets, to towns like Montepulciano and the medieval fortress at Castigleone del Lago, to a wine tasting, to treasured holy shrines like Assisi and Perugia, to a cooking class; we enjoyed it all with the help of our hosts.
