Loved this hotel, it has everything you need in the best location. Ignore the hotel photos on Trip Advisor and the old reviews as it has been completely renovated since then. It is very clean and modern now, look at the more recent traveller photos and the photos on their website for a better idea. The staff are very attentive, particularly around the pool and at breakfast. The pool area is small but sun loungers, tables and parasols are all there. The pool is in shade by around 2.30/3pm due to the hotel being in the cliff side but plenty of time to make the most of it. Pool towels are also readily available and there is a bar for drinks and lunch. The views from the balcony are lovely, make sure to pay extra for the sea view, it’s worth it. Breakfast was really good too, good coffee and a great continental buffet with everything you could want. The walk into the town is less than a few minutes, from the town you can also get the cable car down to the beach if you wish. The town is just beautiful with loads of eateries and things to do. Highly recommend staying here when visiting Taormina!!

We absolutely loved this hotel!
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We had a great check in experience with a female staff member- we never got her name but she was really friendly and provided all information upon check in. We dealt with a few different reception staff during our stay and all were lovely to deal with. Staff at the pool bar and at breakfast were very pleasant also.
Regarding the rooms, we had a sea view room with a balcony and it was absolutely fabulous- the view was out of this world! As mentioned in other reviews, yes the balcony is small but we found we had sufficient room to sit out on it comfortable and admire the view! The room itself was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our room was at the front of the hotel but we were never bothered by noise and slept very well during our seven night stay.
The rooms were cleaned daily and to a high standard.
The pool area is beautiful, and there are fantastic views from it! There aren’t an awful lot of sun loungers but we usually managed to find somewhere to sit, although we generally only visited the pool later in the day, after a day of exploring the area. Towels are also provided which is really handy. There is also a little bar at the pool which is really nice.
The only complaint about the pool area is actually to do with other guests, rather than the staff. Many people would leave the pool area and leave their towel lying on the sun bed rather than putting it in the basket provided! In fairness to the staff, they were very good at removing towels when they were sure people had left, and putting fresh towels folded on top of free chairs/loungers which made it clear that these were available. However, it was sometimes difficult to keep track of, and it’s not difficult to put your towels into the basket, and it would be great if guests could be mindful of each other by doing this!
We only ate breakfast in the hotel, but both the choice and quality were excellent.
The location is another huge benefit of the hotel. It is a few minutes walk to the centre, but in a quiet and peaceful location which meant we always got a great night’s sleep!
Overall, this is an absolutely brilliant hotel which offers great value for money and we would highly recommend it

This hotel is a hidden gem. Location is fantastic only a few minutes walk to the main streets which are filled with great restaurants and shops ,Roman amphitheater, cable car to the beaches and bus station. The hotel has been recently renovated and is modern and simply furnished. Our room, a deluxe double, was small but extremely clean and had a wonderful sea view and balcony. This is a city hotel so there was some street noise early morning but all part of the Taormina experience. The hotel staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble. We have travelled extensively, stayed in five star hotels however the Splendid ranks very highly on our list and we would gladly return.

This hotel is far from Splendid! Please do not waste your money.
The staff are rude and unhelpful. The place is a building site with workmen and banging on all floors. They should NOT be accepting guests at this time it is just pure greed! We were not told of this in advance or at checkin otherwise I would never have stayed. They took our money on arrival to ensure we were trapped to stay !
The first room that we stayed in was unfinished and 4 beds squeezed in like a hostel room! Not what I paid nearly £1,000 for 5 nights. The shower was unfinished and flooded the room ruining 2 pairs of shoes. There was no shower screen, holes all over the walls and ceiling where smoke alarms should have been. Surely this is unsafe and not what you would expected ?!? No one cared
No remote to the air con, fridge wasn’t plumbed in, no telephone, no bins, furniture removed to fit in the beds which meant no room to store clothes. I complained to reception who argued with me that it was okay. 2 hours later someone came up to the room and tried to fix it, asking us to leave the room and go for a walk for 2 hours - it was 7pm and we had been travelling since 2am with 2 children. NOT acceptable but no one to complain to as the “director” was on bank holiday. We were “upgraded” (if you can call it that) to 2 separate rooms for the rest of our stay. One of the rooms overlooked the roof where all the building work and cutting of materials was going on from early in the morning and all day. NOT a restful holiday at all.
The walls are paper thin and I could hear next door using the toilet. Plug sockets without covers on them. No toiletries or cups for water. No yea/coffee facilities. Basic room - not 4*
The noise of deliveries started at 5am on the busy road outside. Rubbish was piled up at the entrance of the hotel not the welcome you would expected. There was no signage to show you the restaurant or swimming pool area. I was overcharged on departure for tourist tax for children under the age of 14. However the lady was just happy to continue to argue with me - I gave up at this point and just wanted out of this disastrous place. I was told that as I was from the UK my standards are too high!
I have never felt so compelled to write a negative review before but I don’t want anyone else to experience this awful UNSPLENDID hotel!

The hotel is situated right in the middle of Taormina and it is minutes walk to all it has to offer but the hotel is in a very peaceful corner of a very busy place which was good.
Found all the staff to be courteous and polite the cleaners do an exceptional job working constantly.
Had a family room with two balcony’s minibar great bathroom and comfy beds and again very clean.
The pool area is nice slightly small bar tender really friendly “Joseph” and was always on hand to help would say the drinks are quite expensive even for Taormina.
Would highly recommend the roof top restaurant ate there twice really good food and great views.
There is a terrace on the 5th floor with four sun beds again with great views and nobody seemed to use so was great space for peace and relaxation.
Would highly recommend this hotel.

Very clean and nicely furnished hotel. Friendly, efficient and accommodating staff. Pool is great and drinks are usually served with snacks. Good range on offer at breakfast (including gluten fee options) although freshly fried eggs cost extra. Conveniently located with a supermarket nearby and fantastic pasticceria. Woke every morning to a splendid sunrise!

We spent a few days at this hotel, together with a number of friends.
The location is great, with fantastic sea-views and a few minutes walk to the centre of town.
However, the hotel equipment was extremely basic for a 4-star hotel, more like a very weak 3-star. The blackout curtains in several rooms were completely useless.
The staff were also generally quite unhelpful and not willing to help.
I wouldnt recommend this place.

Excellent hotel away from the crowds . Beautiful views. refreshing pool. Good breakfast . Spotless clean . Comfortable beds . Good linen and fluffy towels - rooms well appointed with kettle fridge bathrobes and slippers . Powerful shower and toiletries plentiful. Pool towels available.
We stayed 10 nights . First room 505 I had to ask to be moved as the window looked onto the roof top restaurant and there were 2 corporate functions that was noisy. Not restful. We were moved the next day to a sea view room with balcony room 208 that made our holiday . we were given a bottle of fizz as an apology that was a nice gesture.
But you do get woken when restaurant opens at 730 am with other guests chatting loudly en route. The view is worth it.
Remember you have to pay 10 euro per room per night tourist tax as you check out.
Cable car to the beaches 10 euro return. Avoid the weekend as very busy and crowded.
Go to Ilo Bella beach -take swim shoes. Sun beds 20/30 euro each
Hop on/ hop off bus tour is great. You can get a weekly ticket which is good value to do all routes. We done the godfather tour that we recommend. Visit La Pineta restaurant to see the original bridesmaid dress from the wedding scene of the godfather. ( road behind bar Vitelli
Do go to the Italian opera Taormina 30 euros each - fab night.
Choose restaurants in Taormina carefully read reviews. Do not go to Gambere Rosso we had an inedible meal.
Visit the park in Taormina for a cool afternoon stroll.

This hotel was a gem, very clean and modern…. Location was perfect, 5 min walk to the centre of Taormina. The views are spectacular. Receptionist were very welcoming and friendly , especially Francesco. We were upgraded to a deluxe room with an incredible view of the sea. The breakfast was delightful with an array of selections of fresh fruits and pastries along with eggs, cheeses and cold cuts …. They even had a gluten free station. Parking was a breeze…. For 15 euros a day they valet your car. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Hotel located in the city center with a splendid view of the bay of Taormina.
The rooms are quite new but lack various comforts that I would expect from a 4 star hotel, especially if aimed at foreign tourists. In fact, total absence of slippers and kettle for tea or coffee. A guest, when arriving late, would like to find these things already in the room and not have to ask for them.
At breakfast it is unacceptable to have a small cooker with milk powder made from an industrial machine, it would have been appropriate for the hot drinks to be prepared and brought by the staff.
Savory area quite sparse.
Except only the dessert part with the possibility of making Sicilian cannoli.
Not worth the 4 stars.
