Hotel Villa Carlotta garners praise for its spacious and elegantly adorned rooms, which offer practical features and breathtaking views, although a few guests suggest some areas could be rejuvenated. The hotel's value is acknowledged by many, who appreciate complimentary perks like pet stays and shuttle services, despite occasional remarks about room size and pricing. Exceptional service is a hallmark here, with staff members receiving accolades for their personalized and professional approach. Its prime location is celebrated for being close to the heart of Taormina, providing tranquil yet scenic surroundings. While the hotel's ambiance is often described as both charming and stylish, some visitors feel certain aspects could be updated. Amenities, including the sumptuous rooms, top-notch restaurant, and diligent staff, are frequently lauded, with special nods to the sea vistas and strategic location. Cleanliness stands out at Villa Carlotta, with most guests impressed by the meticulous upkeep, though a rare comment suggests a need for a spruce-up.

We loved our stay at Villa Carlotta. We travelled with our small, well-behaved dog and there was no extra cost for our pet, which is always a welcome treat. He was allowed access to every part of the property which is exactly how I believe a pet-friendly hotel should operate. The service at Villa Carlotta was excellent - personable yet professional. We met the owners of the hotel and they were lovely. We stayed in room 305, which had the most glorious views. The room was a great size, tastefully decorated and also very practical in terms of storage and the design of the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable with high-quality linens. Breakfast was delicious and the restaurant offers stunning views of the sea. Food included Sicilian specialties (which were my favourite) as well as more continental breakfast options as well as a scrumptious selection of baked goods too. We also had dinner at the hotel and really enjoyed it.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 41st anniversary at Hotel Villa Carlotta. This was our fourth holiday stay at Hotel Villa Carlotta. From the moment we arrive we are treated like family … from the gracious owners, the Quartucci’s (Andrea and Rosaria) and their amazing staff. There is so much to say about this gem of a hotel. Hotel Villa Carlotta’s location is within walking distance to the center of town. The Hotel has so much to offer… from our room the fantastic views of the sea and Mt. Etna. The rooftop restaurant and Bar where the most incredible breakfast is served. Dinner is also a must , one of the best in Taormina with that view !!! Our room with the terrace overlooking sea was spacious elegant and spotless. We enjoyed the pool and gym. The attentive and friendly staff made arrangements for us to go to a private beach club, restaurant and other activities. Hotel Villa Carlotta is an amazing value compared to other luxury hotels. We love that they are a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. We also stayed at their other properties : the lovely Villa Ducale in Taormina and Q92 in Noto. We can’t wait for our next visit.

Dear Twiga99, it is amazing to hear that after so many visits you keep on loving our place so much! many things have happened after Covid, from new staff members to many improvements such as remodelling of our popular restaurant, the pool restyling, the new gym into the roman catacombs room and all brand new Italian marble bathrooms and it is very important to us to get good feedbacks! You and your large family seem to be in love with all our properties (QRA Hospitality brand) and this makes me more than happy especially about our incredible 1600 palazzo home to the White Lotus in Noto called Q92 Noto hotel. We are looking forward to see you again in 2024 and grazie mille! Mr. Andrea Quartucci, the owner

Hotel Villa Carlotta - Taormina
This hotel is like discovering a jewel box filled with unique gems. Our room , # 302, (sea view junior suite) was large with a sitting room closed off by glass doors. Bathroom is small but adequate with double sinks and very high end Etro brand toiletries. Sitting room and bed had Juliet balconies overlooking the pool below and a lovely coastline view. Décor in the room is elegant. Breakfast is an extensive buffet of local specialties and an array of on site baked pastries, fruit, juices, champagne, meats, smoked fish and more. Coffee drinks are excellent. The breakfast restaurant is on the rooftop and is light, breezy and gorgeous with elegant furniture, mirror topped painted tables and superb service. In fact, all service at the hotel is top notch. Owner, Andrea, Quartucci, is very present and prides himself on guests feeling welcome and taken care of. Reception staff are warm, attentive and take great care to ask questions and assess guest’s preferences when making recommendations for dining, sight, beaches, etc.
The pool is a calm and pretty space and very welcome after walking/hiking the steep streets of Taormina. There is shade in the afternoon and always enough chaises for guests.

Hotel is nicely located, but rooms are in serious need of a refresh, especially since they are charging top-tier luxury hotel rates, even for Taormina. The staff was attentive and friendly, but they could not resolve issues we experienced with the bathroom plumbing which made loud squeaking noises every 10 minutes or so. They couldn't identify the problem so we had to deal with it for 3 nights. They comp'd us the 30 euro valet parking fee as compensation, but this is a serious issue that needs to be addressed in a hotel of this level. One staffer acted a bit as though she thought we were imagining the noises ... we were definitely not, and it was not an acceptable issue.

Overall, the room was a bit worn and a number of things didn't function properly any more ... clothes cabinets in the room that are supposed to light when you open them, but then don't properly shut off when the doors are closed, leaving a light coming into the sleeping room all night. TV system was essentially non functional. Insufficient light by the bedside does not accommodate reading and overall lighting in room inadequate. Peeling paint and worn surfaces across room, especially in bathroom.

Before arriving here, we stayed for 4 nights at their sister hotel Q92 in Noto which is newer, and it was fantastic ... no issues or complaints whatsoever. Breakfast here was very nice, and the location was perfect for enjoying Taormina. I think the owners should take a good look at this property and make the necessary investments to update the property to the type of hotel they claim to be, and that they clearly know how to run at their other properties.

Dear Jimbonet, thank you for your review. As owner myself we take in great respect our clients opinions. In your case I regret to tell you that none of us including our engineer and personally myself found a single little noise in the bathroom so it was definetly in your imagination. Also we check every room every week and yours, one of the cheapest we have, was absolutely perfect and all functional including our central TV system by SKY tv network with all international channels including CNN, BBC, etc. Other guests before and after you simply adored our Garden Junior Suite and its amazing al fresco terrace. Thank you for complimenting on our Q92 Noto hotel which you can't compare: Villa Carlotta is a 1860 modern villa while Q92 Noto hotel is a 1600 baroque palazzo, totally different. I wish you all my best, Mr. Andrea Quartucci

I stayed at Villa Carlotta for 4 nights at the end of September, the hotel was fully booked but I got the last Junior suite available. If anyone is coming from Catania , the bus is actually the most affordable way, only 5 euros and conveniently there is a bus stop right outside the hotel, literally! Also the airport bus goes direct, so do that if you want to save 100 euros in cab fare 😊.

The moment I arrived for checkout Aji greeted me and checked me in swiftly , took my bags and offered me a nice welcoming drink at their rooftop restaurant. Aji was an amazing staff member, he looked after me and gave me so much useful advice, booked all my restaurants & beach access (highly recommend visiting the Belmond Santandrea beach if you can it is well worth it), and overall one of the nicest person you would come across, can’t say enough good things about him! Also the young lady on the front desk was a delight to speak to, she managed the social media and was such a kind person, always taking time to chat with me and keep me informed, a real pleasure to interact with!

Now for the actual room, it was spacious with spectacular views over the sea and it even had two balconies, it got the most beautiful sunrise views I have seen in quite some time (attached in the pics to this review). The room was large with a nice long sofa looking out onto the sea and it had a classic modern feel, with a comfortable well equipped bathroom, and I had a great peaceful sleep there. For me the best part of the hotel was the roof top bar and restaurant , it was stunning, very chic and the views are unparalleled, I don’t think it can get much better. The breakfast was so delicious there every morning and never felt crowded , the mini cannoli’s are to die for! The service staff there were so friendly and warm, smiling always and genuinely happy to help you, you could see they loved working there, which is rare!

The property had lovely gardens with beautiful flowers and plants everywhere, and a pool which was refreshing but I didn’t use it much as I was out and about most of the time. The proximity to the main town center is great, just 10 mins walk to the hotel which keeps things quiet, yet very accessible. If you are looking for a top notch boutique hotel experience with impeccable service then I would highly recommend staying here, can’t wait to come back!

Can't say enough about the staff (Arjeev, Luisa and everyone else) , the location, the room and the top floor restaurant. Pool was small but bar service was very good. We did breakfast every morning at the top floor open air restaurant with fabulous views that catered very much to American tastes. Our luggage was lost on the way from Rome to Taormina and the staff couldn't have tried harder to help. They also arranged for trips to the beach and supplied us with pre-packed bags with water. For the budget conscious, the bus from Catania Airport stops directly across from hotel (7 Euro per person and takes about 70 minutes) else you pay between 130-150 Euro for a taxi. Train also stops at ground level but then you'll need a taxi to take you the 5 minutes up the switchbacks. We also stayed for one night right next store at the Hotel Belvedere which was different but nice with a bigger pool but breakfast buffet not as good. We preferred the Carlotta as the staff made you feel at home

This property is absolutely incredible and pure perfection! I travel extensively and so the bar is set very high but Villa Carlotta exceeded my expectations on every level. From the room to the staff/service, food, location and amenities, it was A class and couldn't be faulted. I felt like I was in the pages of a vogue magazine it was so beautiful! The room and view actually took my breath away when I walked in (I stayed in a junior suite sea view). This is also a property that has heart and soul and where you don't feel like "just another guest". The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and your every need attended to. I was travelling on my own and loved the location and proximity to Taormina town (short walking distance). There is also a complimentary shuttle to Lido La Pigna beach club which is a must do for the day. What took this property to whole other level of service for me was their assistance when a fire at Catania airport meant I had to adjust my travel plans. The owner Andrea (who greets and talks to guests at breakfast) assisted me personally to get to Rome to get a flight back to Australia. Andrea helped me with my travel plans (he actually took me to the train station and made sure I found the right platform to depart from), he had the kitchen pack me a travel pack of food and drinks and then he continued to follow up to make sure I arrived safely in Rome. I can see why this property is as good as it is with an owner that cares that much to assist their guests. I can't wait to return to Villa Carlotta!

We recently spent two nights at Villa Carlotta while visiting Taormina and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was spacious with two sets of windows and a lovely view of the sea. It was modern, well-furnished but had touches that felt more like a Villa than a traditional hotel and it's smaller size (compared to some of the other deluxe properties in the city) made it feel very intimate and personal. Nice toiletries, lots of bottled water, and a coffee maker in the room (finally, coffee makers and hot pots seem to be appearing in more hotel rooms in Italy). The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful, both at reception and in the top-floor restaurant. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant is enormous and beautifully presented, with attentive staff and a lovely view of Taormina and the coast. It's a 5 min walk from the English gardens and just a little further to the center of town; we enjoyed being in a little quieter area of the town yet so close to anything we wanted to see. It's truly a lovely spot and we'd stay there again for sure.

Dear Ef from Los Angeles, thank you very much for your amazing and gracious review describing what our luxury boutique hotel experience looks like. Hotel Villa Carlotta (28 rooms & Suites) is a fantastic alternative for those looking for a real local experience without missing international features and for those loving Italian design, authenticity and genuine welcome. More and more people prefer our style to the big international chin hotels where everything everywhere is the same. Our staff are well trained and love their jobs so that it is lovely to engage with our beloved guests conversations about our wonderful area which go beyond a simple information. Our location is highly appreciated being really close to the pedestrian area but far enough to get a gentle peaceful atmosphere throughout the hotel, our garden and pool area not to forget to mention our amazing view over the Ionian sea. Our restaurant open to non staying guests is ranked among the best in town and it is very beautiful. Arrivederci from all VC staff, Luisa, reception and guest relations manager @ Villa Carlotta, member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection

We had 4 nights in Villa Carlotta and it was fantastic.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were brilliant - always helpful, but then quietly fade into the background again. They organised transfers and put us in touch with EtnaPeople for our walk up Mount Etna.
We had the Garden Suite which was awesome where we could step out from our room onto the grassed sunbathing area beside the pool. The pool was a good size, given how hard it is to get land in Taormina, and never had to worry about getting a sunbed.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of choice.
The location is perfect too with just a 10 min walk into the heart of Taormina
I would certainly come back here !

Having read a lot of reviews, we had high expectations. We thought it was a nice option in an expensive destination ...but lacking true boutique luxury people have described...that could be just us.

We appreciated the Staff ...especially the dining room..always smiling ...always courteous.

The room made this a 4 star review ...not 5. It was very noisy due to our location and the amenities were average & the decor needs a "refresh"..

The sea view was spectacular & location was convenient to the main part of town.

Our hotel isn't high up on a hill at all! Who says that does not know us. Taormina is all on a small gentle hill like most Italian resorts and towns and Villa Carlotta is in central Taormina in a flat zone. The beaches are at 10 minutes walk down along a panoramic staircase and 20 minutes up, many people walk. You can always use the hotel's complimentary shuttle or the amazing cable way to go up and down from town to the several beaches

Dear 508jmw, in Taormina parking is extremely restricted and difficult. However Villa Carlotta provides a valet parking at a cost of euro 22,00 a day. You can drop the car in front of the hotel and with a short note to reception have it back in a few minutes. We remind you that from our hotel you can go everywhere in town by walk.
