Hotel Politeama stands out for its prime location, nestled close to historical sights and bustling city life with easy access to transit, a feature frequently celebrated by guests. Many travelers commend the hotel for its spotless environment and well-maintained rooms, although opinions on room aesthetics and noise levels vary, with some pointing out the need for updates and quieter settings. The service is generally noted for its efficiency, especially the valet parking, although the reception staff's friendliness can be inconsistent. While the hotel's atmosphere and rooftop views are popular, the amenities and value for money, particularly regarding the rooftop bar and parking, receive mixed reviews.

I stayed at the Hotel Politeama, together with my wife, from 2 to 6 January. The hotel is in a perfect position to access the pedestrian area, which is just as far away as the square it overlooks. The square is a lively lung, in the evening it lights up and is truly pleasant. The Politeama theater is in front of the Hotel. The staff is very professional but always courteous, reliable and available for any request/information. One of the strong points is certainly the breakfast. In many years of travel it is among the best I have tried. The buffets are rich on both the sweet and savory sides. The products are all fresh and nothing is missing to start the day in the best way. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the restaurant, located on the roof, from which you can enjoy an excellent view, having never dined in a hotel, but on the surface it too seems very good. The rooms are spacious and equipped with everything you need. Positive note: the double was a real double, with a single mattress and not two side by side as unfortunately is almost always found in hotels. The only negative note, if you want to nitpick..., is the poor soundproofing. I was staying on the third floor but the traffic noise and voices from the street were very clear. I recommend, if possible, asking for a room with inward windows. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to spend a few days in Palermo and enjoy the beauty of this city, in particular the historic center and the pedestrian area. The Massimo theater is 8 minutes away on foot, all in a pedestrian area. Via Libertà ends in the hotel square, which is the street of the big brand shops, a truly pleasant walk.

This hotel is well located and aesthetically looks great, the staff on the reception were very helpful and pleasant, they provided us with milk so we could make our tea in the morning. They do provide tea making facilities and coffee and tea is also provided but you will need to ask for some milk or buy or your own, there is also a mini bar with the usual overpriced contents, we used this to keep our milk fresh and our water chilled.

The rooms themselves are a good size and clean, the bed was comfortable. The bathroom facilities are also good, there was a bath with a fairly powerful shower. The one significant issue was the air conditioning, which no matter what temperature we turned it down to, the rooms temperature did no decrease and unfortunately this led to not much sleep being had.

The breakfast which is served from 7 -10 is very good, there is an extensive selection of food to choose from, they will also provide fresh coffee and tea if you require it. The breakfast staff were most helpful and friendly.

All in all apart from the unfortunate and for us significant sleeping issue, this was a great hotel. We have marked this Very Good as there is no good and average seems quite harsh, not the hotel's fault more Trip Advisers marking system.

The hotel is overrated. Don't know how they got such high ratings. The photos online are misleading as they show the theatre next door (which has beautiful architecture) and not the hotel itself. I'm assuming this is intentional to mislead potential guests.
When we arrived, there was no bellman which usually is no problem however one of our party was temporarily disabled with a broken ankle and nobody at the front desk ever offered to help on arrival and departure. The elevator (which was also tiny) is up a small flight of stairs so it was a struggle to get the luggage up and down. The furniture in the room and lobby were tattered and had holes and were all very worn and dated. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the sheets were a low thread count and were scratchy too.
The shower is tiny and leaks all over the bathroom floor.
The air conditioning was anemic and it was too hot to sleep. They even brought up a fan that didn't help. Enginering was absolutely useless and said that was the best they could do. They couldn't even repair the room curtains so the light kept piercing in waking us up early even though it was extremely difficult to sleep with the heat anyway.
The front desk staff never made eye contact or greeted anyone.
The only positives were the breakfast and breakfast staff who were polite and accommodating as were the housekeeping staff. The hotel is also pretty centrally located which was convenient. It is also relatively quiet.
The gym was adequate for a hotel gym so one can maintain fitness while traveling.
The Skybar was nice and has a decent view.
Those were about the only positives.
We also had to pay for water bottles and the front desk never assisted with any transportation to and from airport or other local destinations and we had to do it ourselves. Also checkin was late and checkout was early and they were very strict about those times and were inflexible.
Overall experience was equivocal but we will not stay here again or recommend it as I'm sure there are plenty of other hotels in the area that are better.

Dear Mr Ronald, Thank you for your review. It is important for us to collect all the feedback from our guests, even the most critical ones, because we are sure that they can help us to improve the quality of our services and of your stay. We would like to assure you that all the staff are committed and give their best to ensure that guests leave satisfied, we are therefore sorry to read that your experience at this wonderful Hotel was not as satisfying and memorable as it is for other guests. I would like to respond to a few points that you have kindly highlighted: on our website you will find clearly arranged photos of the rooms, the Hotel's common areas, as well as photos of the surroundings, including the magnificent square and the theatre, as is done for all establishments, especially if it is the case to enhance an excellent location such as ours. Although unfortunately we did not have the bellboy at our disposal, upon arrival, both front desk colleagues came out to help you with your luggage and you kindly declined our help. When you complained about the air conditioning, the staff immediately offered to change your room, and again you declined. Despite being warned about the timetable, we freely allowed you to keep your room well after the scheduled check-out time. We are truly sorry that your stay was not up to the standard experienced by other guests. We therefore hope to welcome you back to the Hotel Politeama soon so that we can have a chance to change your mind about the aspects you highlighted negatively. Sincerely, Giulia Guest Relations Department, Hotel Politeama

Sleek modern hotel is an excellent location for walking to all historic sites.
We had a large room on the top floor, the Panorama Suite with a very large wrap around balcony overlooking the Politeama theater and square and with a view over rooftops to the sea. Immaculately clean and with excellent service.
Staff are attentive and helpful with suggestions for restaurants and touring.
Breakfast is served in a downstairs room that is light and bright despite not having windows. The buffet is plentiful and will satisfy those seeking American as well as European breakfasts.
There is a nice bar on the first floor as well as a rooftop bar but we didn't use either.
If coming from the airport, take the very comfortable bus which will drop you off directly across the street and cost around 5 euros versus a very expensive taxi.

An unforgettable experience thanks to the courtesy of the reception!

Our stay at Hotel Politeama was simply perfect, and much of the credit goes to the extraordinary courtesy of the reception staff. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm smile and attention to detail that made our experience unique.

The reception team not only took care of our every need with efficiency and professionalism, but also proved to be a valuable source of advice for exploring Palermo. Every day, they enthusiastically suggested the best places to visit, from the hidden pearls of the old town to the most iconic monuments. But what struck us most were their restaurant recommendations: thanks to Raffaele we discovered real gems of Palermo cuisine, enjoying delicious dishes that made our trip even more special.

Hotel Politeama is not only a place to stay, but a reference point for those who want to experience Palermo to the fullest. The helpfulness and kindness of the staff turned our stay into a memorable experience. We look forward to returning!

The hotel is perfectly located to see the sights of Palermo by foot and directly next to the stop for the airport shuttle bus. Our spacious room overlooked the Theatre Garibaldi and surrounding Palazzo, the only downside being the excessive noise, particulalry into the early hours of Saturday morning. We were impressed by the contempory abstract art works aroung the hotel.
The bedroom had all the important requirements including a fridge, safe, hair dryer, luxury toiletries and comfortable king sized bed. While the bedroom was very large, including a large safa and armchair, the bathroom was very tight for space, although attracive in design. In particular, the shower cubicle was very compact. The buffet style breakfast more than met our needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay and would not hesitate to return.

Hotel Politeama is a modern, relatively plain and clean hotel; you might consider it as a business type hotel. We stayed in May 2022 in a deluxe room on the 8th floor with a balcony overlooking the Teatro Politeama. At night, traffic is limited in this area and we felt there was little noise at night. The hotel is on the edge of the main part of the city, thus appeared not prone to late night revellers. It is very walkable to most of the areas of interest, around 10 minutes to the Teatro Massimo in the centre.

The room had a comfortable 160 cm double bed, all the standard facilities and amenities including a paying mini bar with a limited range of drinks and snacks. The bathroom was reasonably spacious with a rainfall shower, although there was nowhere to put your toiletries in the shower cubicle.

The offering at breakfast was substantial with a wide variety of meats, cheeses, pastries, cakes, cereals, yoghurt and fruit. There was also hot scrambled egg and sausage and good coffee. We found the staff very helpful and attentive. It’s not a big room so was very busy at certain times of the morning.

The airport shuttle coach runs every half hour and is comfortable, air-conditioned and stops literally right outside the hotel. At the time we visited the cost was €6 per person each way. About 10 minutes before the coach arrives someone turns up outside the hotel to sell/check tickets. If you are planning to use the service at a busy time it would be best to prebook your tickets with a specified time as without this there may not be enough space on board. You can do this online or in person. We only used the service to return to the airport.

All in all we’d recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located very conveniently, within walking distance of the main attractions of the city.
The rooms are clean, cozy and comfortable, equipped with everything necessary for a pleasant stay.
Hotel staff are very attentive and professional, always available to help with any questions. Wi-Fi is stable and uncontroversial.
If you travel by car, the hotel team will promptly park it for 25 euros per day.
Overall, our holiday at this hotel was wonderful!
