Great quiet location, breakfast was a bit hit and miss and delivered to your room not eaten downstairs in the dining room. Facilities were basic but clean and the staff helpful, good for the price and only a ten minute walk from the station

Read the reviews of this place we had a beautiful apartment with roof terrace! Very quiet, had a kitchen so you could eat on a budget. There's a water bus stop 3 mins up the canal, buy a 24hr travel card and go anywhere you want! Had a super time with my girlfriend, the owner was super nice. Feb is...

Love the location of this place - 10 minutes walk away from the train station, away from the busy crowd of the main shopping streets of Venice. Rooms were lovely - clean & spacious. Food around this area is much more affordable compared to the touristy shopping street. The lady at the reception was so friendly and helpful! She offered...

Friendly and helpful staff capable of speaking fluent English. While we check-in, we were greeted by a friendly girl who recommended us places to go and nearby restaurants. The room is large with a kitchen equiped with freezer, kettle and stove. Tableware are provided. The only downside is the heating is quite tricky to work out and there was no...

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in September. Caught the ferry from the airport to Guglie station and it is a fairly easy 5 to 10 minute walk to the hotel. We didn't get the code to the door in time but rang the door bell and someone answered and gave us the code. The reception is closed...

Booked through booking.com. Followed the instructions the hotel gave and it's about a 15 minute walk from the train station. Venezia st Lucia. Easy to find. Nice neighbourhood. Lovely room on first floor. Walking distance to every where. Breakfast was ok, toast , ham, 2 cereals. Good coffee, decent juices, croissants. No fresh fruit. Tea making facilities in room and...

Excellent place to stay in Venice, After a horrible stay in a hotel close by we booked into this gem! We were offered a complimentary breakfast on our arrival with fresh croissants and cappuccinos. The apartment was well furnished, spotless and modern! I will definitely recommended to stay here!

We needed a hotel for a one-night stay at the end of our cruise and found this fairly nice hotel. Though a bit off the beaten path and a bit confusing to find, it was still fairly central, especially if you're good at navigating the Vaporetto. We checked in during a heat wave (over 95 degrees Fahrenheit) and discovered that...

Really a good place to stay in a quiet and traditional place in Venice! You will feel yourself part of the neighborhood specially if you go to the restaurants in the area and walk around. The apt is comfortable, the staff very amiable, nice breakfast. I guess this is the place I will keep on coming to stay in my...

We stayed for two nights at the Ca` Fontanea (Ca means house) at Late April and it was a very pleasant stay. Breakfast was OK, not super. Room was very clean. Location is great right next to "Tre Archi" Vaporeto station and a few minutes walking through picturesque brigdes to main train station. We got the room at the top...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

“We went in late October and opening a window was enough for us on the air - otherwise, I cannot be sure about the A/C situation. Ours was up the stairs and to the right. Could hear neighbors one night but if everyone keeps it down a little - it is no big deal. (remember, people can hear you if you are yelling at your boyfriend...) : )”
