Rather belatedly, adding a review. The City of Venice is full of back streets and dead ends - part of its charm but it makes it difficult to find anything such as a B&B when you don't know the area. However, we did not need to worry as Lorenzo met us at the waterbus stop (even then we managed to...

Perfect location. 5 minutes walk to St. Marks or Rialto. Our room was spacious, clean, functional, awesome. Bathroom was clean and roomy. Lorenzo is the most marvelous host. He met us at the Vaparetto stop and walked us to the B&B. Then proceeded to give us a map and show us how to get everywhere, along with recommendations. He also...

This was a perfect location for our stay in Venice. Lorenzo was a gracious host and met us at the boat stop which was a short walk from his B & B. The location in Castello was very convenient. It was only about a 10 minute walk to St. Marco's square. There were numerous restaurants and shops nearby. Lorenzo served...

I stayed at the end of August and I really enjoyed it. The breakfast was nice and the pastries were fresh with a nice Italian coffee. The room was very clean, with fast wifi and a comfy bed. Also very quiet at night. Once you know how to get to the hostel its very quick and easy to find. Very central...

This B and B exceeded all of our expectations. It was 5 short blocks and 1 bridge away from St Marco's Square. We could not have asked for a better location. The room was spacious and spotless. The private bathroom was also immaculately clean. It was a very quiet spot but so close to everything that we could pop in...

Ai Tagliapietra was a perfect choice for our first trip to Venice, IT. Lorenzo Tammaseo met us at the boat stop of the Alilaguna Blue Line at San Zaccaria. He escorted us to his B&B. This was essential because the neighborhoods in Venice are a maze of narrow streets and small bridges. The 4 bedroom B&B is easily accessible from...

Very convenient location close to all attractions but not too busy. Five minutes walking distance to either water bus or saint mark's square. Nice breakfast served. Room has air conditioning. Everything new and clean.

This is stop one of our two week Italian vacation. IMHO, the biggest benefit to staying at this B&B is that the host Lorenzo will meet you at the water taxi dock and bring you to the apartment. It's such a stress reliever not getting lost in unfamiliar alleys trying to find your lodging while rolling a bunch of luggage...

Just back from weekend staying here. It really is a home from home. You come home at night winding streets ( after you do it once you remember) My second time to stay here. Lorenzo is the perfect host, knowledgeable, quiet and super honest ( there was error in quoted price , he pointed it out to me and charged...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
