Great location very central and close to water taxi station. Very friendly and helpful lady on reception who speaks excellent English. Very good breakfast. Would definitely return. The only slight issue is the lack of a lift. Having said that the lady on reception carried my wife's case up without being asked

This place is very nice from inside. The rooms are modern and nice from inside. Our room was very small and for 2 persons with suitcases almost too small. The lady at the reception was very friendly and the breakfast was very good. There is no elevator to the rooms which means you have to carry up your suitcases. It's...

Stopped off here for a night before boarding a cruise ship the following day. The location can be difficult to find but the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and sent me a message prior to arriving with the hotel location. Lovely welcome, room was nice and quiet. Overall happy and would recommend this to anyone visiting Venice on...

Spent 1 night and 2 days at san luca B&B and would definitely go back if I get a chance. Enjoyed our stay in this super clean comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Location is perfect - its just a stroll down to St. Marks Square - the happening place of Venice. We just followed the directions on their...

I have been meaning to visit Venice for many, many years and never got round to it so whilst on a holiday to Croatia I decided finally to go for it. I am sure that there are better people than me to wax lyrical about Venice (which was fabulous, crazy, expensive and totally different) so I will stick to the...

We had a bad experience with this hotel: when booking it online the price was raised upon confirmation. We wrote the hotel attaching a copy of the lower price displayed online but they insisted on charging the higher price. we cancelled the reservation and found for the same price a hotel that looks much better.

We found this hotel in reviews. Vey close to Piazza San Marcos (5 min walk). The room is very nice, clean, and lots of space. Nice beds and bathroom. Breakfast served every day from 8:00 to 10:00 am. We arrived at midnight and they were waiting for us. The only "but" is it doesn't have an elevator and my son...

My husband and I booked San Luca B&B on-line based on good reviews, location, & availability. My experience while staying with San Luca: - Pre-check in communications were challenging. I had to email twice and call twice as I was requesting specific directions to the hotel. Staff was not quick to reply to my initial request, but I finally got...

The hotel is good located, in the heart of San Marco, close from Piazza di San Marco and Rialto Bridge. The Vaporetto stop Rialto was 2 min from the hotel, very convinient. The breakfast was good, some fruits, yogurts, juices, but the breads weren´t fresh. We stayed in one apartment for 3-4 people. It was in another building, although the...

We stayed in this B&B for 2 nights with overall pleasant experience. Venice is a city to get lost easily, but the directions from the owner is very helpful. We could find the B&B very easily and it is located very close to Rialto, so fantastic location. We found good hospitality from the owner such as serving drinks and snacks...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
