The Palazzo Stern is a wonderfully restored residence that is ideally located by the Ca'Rezzonico on the Grand Canal and can be reached directly from the airport using the Alilaguna boat( orange route) in just over an hour. This is an ideal way to arrive -across the lagoon and then via the Cannaregio Canal and Grand Canal. This was our... More

The location is great - just 30 meters from the Ca' Rezzonico vaporetto stop (#1 line from the Piazza Roma car park and the train station). The staff are very helpful and the breakfast is self service and good. We had Aperol Spritz in the bar and enjoyed it. Good selection of restaurants and bars nearby and an easy walk... More

We stayed for two nights in November and received an upgrade to a deluxe room on check in. The hotel is a perfect base from which to explore Venice; just far enough from the hustle and bustle but a short walk from the main sights. It was cold and wet when we visited but we still managed to sit on... More

What a view on "canale grande". Venice is such a wonderful city to enjoy the places, bridges, exhibitions, museums, history, typical food and italian adria feeling. The hotel is a perfect starting point for doing all this with short walks or by getting a ship. Do it...!

We stayed here for two nights before a cruise that departed out of Venice. This is our fourth time in Venice and this hotel was beautiful. It has a great location. Close enough to all the important places you wish to see but not in an area that is too busy and hectic. Staff was very, very good. Friendly, efficient... More

Our first trip to Venice, I wanted a nice hotel. We couldn't have picked a better one. The perfect location, our French doors opened onto the grand canal. The room was like staying in a palace! High ceilings, chandeliers and the bathroom was amazing. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Breakfast was a full one each morning. Venice is... More

There are many, many hotels in Venice, but this one is truly unique: it's a beautiful Moorish mini-palace that was originally built as the residence of an art collector and was converted to a boutique hotel in 2008. It's conveniently located next to the Cà Rezzonico vaporetto stop (also served by the Alilaguna boats from the airport) and some of... More

We loved this hotel. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and are genuinely happy to help you. Rooms are comfortable and the building is full of quirky architectural and decorative details. The location is fabulous, a perfect combination of being close to all the sights yet peacefully removed from the mayhem of tour groups. It's right beside Ca Rezzonico... More

We only stayed here 2 nights but would definitely stay again. The staff are all very pleasant and rooms spotlessly clean. The only negative was the room was far too hot! Buongiorno! Thanks a lot for your very kind review, I'm happy you enjoyed your stay with us! The cat is an extra amenity. :oP Just kiddin', I'm sorry that the room was too hot. Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
