My wife and I stayed here for her 40th birthday. The hotel is in an ideal location on the Grand Canal with great views and it's next to a Vaporetto stop which is very handy for getting around. The building itself is stunning, it feels like a grand old palace and we felt like royalty from the moment we got...

We chose this hotel because I just had to be on the Grand Canal for our two nights in Venice. We got a room on the Grand Canal in this elegant palazzo. Would I stay in the hotel again? Absolutely, yes. Would I spring for the canal view again? No, the room does not provide a comfortable spot to watch...

Dear Guest, We thank you for your nice and detailled feedback. We are happy to know you enjoyed your stay at our property, in particular the location, and that you appreciated either the room and the breakfast, as well as our Grand Canal Restaurant L ' Alcova and our RoofTop Terrace on the 4th floor. My husband & I took a water taxi to the historic Ca' Sagredo hotel/former palace. The hotel's location is very good. Our room was very large. There are many restaurants nearby so we didn't eat at the hotel. The bedroom walls are covered with pretty tapestry although there are some areas in the room with no solid backing/walls behind the...

I felt that this hotel had many good aspects and a few not so good. The location is great, right on the Grand Canal. Our room was also very good, with a view of the Canal. However, there were a few issues. First, breakfast was substandard. A five star hotel should have a great breakfast. This was one step above...

I will admit that I approached this hotel with high hopes but also a degree of scepticism. It had taken me months to commit to my final hotel in my trip - the one here in Venice; in many ways the most important one. TripAdvisor reviews at the time I was choosing were somewhat mixed - which worried me slightly....

Wonderful experience in this great hotel. Fantastic location still in walking distance to most sights but away from the crowds. The reception staff was delightfully attentive. Only downsides - the mattress was a little firm for my liking and the concierge mistakenly booked our train to Florence for the wrong day. Lesson learned - check your tickets!

A very nice hotel in a good location. Three steps away from the water bus station and a pleasant 15 min stroll from St. Mark's square. Whilst we didn't eat at the hotel, the restaurant seems fair. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, and the staff friendly. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere. The single lift is slow but...

We love staying at the Small Luxury Hotels of the world properties and this one didn't disappoint. You are in a real Palazzo with Venetian style furniture so if sleek and modern is your thing, this place is not for you. What we liked about the property is that its just on the edge of the hustle and bustle so...

We just returned from spending two nights at the CA'SAGREDO hotel and it was a wonderful experience. This was our sixth visit to Venice and we have stayed at most of the 5 star hotels. This was one of the best. It is hard to add to previous descriptions of its beauty. It is staying at a well maintained 15th...

I stayed here for 3 nights in early September. It was an anniversary surprise trip so I had no idea what to expect. Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
