We stayed at this hotel in June, 2014 for 2 nights. We had the room with one double bed and one single bed. The room was nice with high ceilings, although the bathroom was small and the shower was quite small. The hotel is an older style building and the lobby is very nice. Our friends' room was a small...

Dear Serena We are happy with your review, but especially that you liked our establishment, location and services, especially the cleanness and staff help; also if the bathroom space is small, being our hotel an ancient palaceas you noted. Many thanks and looking forward to see you again next time. War mest regards

Loved the time we spent in this hotel. The staff are excellent and go the extra mile to make your stay good, we told them we would not be taking breakfast one day as we were setting off early, to our surprise and appreciation, they packed us up breakfast!!! The rooms are a decent size and very clean, with daily...

I loved this place. From the minute I booked the staff was very helpful and easy to communicate with. The hotel is located right by the Rialto Bridge, so the location couldn't be better. The decor of the hotel with the red carpet is really nice. I had a single room and it was perfect. Great bed, spacious, great bathroom....

With a small piazza in front of it, a canal at the back, on a beautiful old building is Hotel Alla Fava. A small place with just 15 rooms on the first floor. All the property is well decorated. There are nice touches like red carpet on the stairs, an Abat jour illuminating the corridor, and if you walk to the...

Gorgeous little hotel with only 18 rooms, short walking distance between St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. Make sure you find out prior to arriving how to find the hotel from the pier, otherwise it is near impossible if it's your first time in Venice, even with a map! We quickly learned our way around though. Lovely reception staff,...

Delighted with my stay at Alla Fava Hotel, we were warmly greeted and the polite staff made the checking in process very simple, this was very welcome after a hot and humid day. The room we were given was on the first floor, good size, very clean and quiet. The hotel was excellent value due to its location in the...

We arrived in Venice after taking a water taxi from the cruise pier. We were given bad directions and walked 1 1/2 hrs with five suitcases trying to find the hotel. After we found it, the man at the desk was very pleasant and made our day better. The room was what we expected and wanted, it was Italian style,...

We had never been to Venice and if it wasn't for the gentleman working the front desk the night we arrived, we would of been out on the street. We arrived in Venice at 10:00 pm, and the taxi boats from Treviso stopped at 12:00. No one told us, so we were stranded on a dock waiting for a boat...

Nice hotel, close to both Rialto and St Marks. The room was a good size and the front desk staff were friendly. The walls were thin but no more so than any other place I stayed in Europe. All in all decent value for the money especially considering the prices of similar Hotels in the same area.

This little hotel is in excellent location. Staff was very helpful and nice. Breakfast was okay. The room was clean, but you could hear all sounds from the next room and stairs. Good value for the money anyway!

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Hotel Alla Fava overlooks Campo della Fava, a small square where Casanova used to meet his young lovers. In the square, the church of Santa Maria della Fava hosts some famous works by Giambattista Tiepolo and Giovanni Battista Piazzetta. Hotel Alla Fava is one minute from the famous Rialto Bridge, one of the main sights in Venice hosting the rich and colourful fruit and vegetable market which enlivens the heart of the city every day. St Mark’s Square and the Bridge of Sighs are also at walking distance. The main public transport hub on the Grand Canal is 3 minutes away and connects to the main sights, to easily reach the islands in the Laguna: Murano, Burano and Torcello. When staying at Hotel Alla Fava, everything Venice has to offer is just a short walk away. ... more   less
