My boyfriend booked this hotel as a surprise for my birthday when we got there his first words where sorry it looked better online! The room itself was ok in keeping with Venice but very small he had asked for a room with a view we got a wall! Breakfast is continental which was fine but they only have six...

Dear Kimmy83, It is such a shame to read such a bad opinion about us in few lines! Wouldn't have been much better explaining your disappointment directly to the reception staff? To spend a more satisfactory stay, considering the special occasion, your boyfriend could have simply paid some more euros, and you would have been assigned a room with a...

This is one of the cheaper hotels in Venice and is classed as a two star hotel. Well, we were hesitant when booking online but it really is easily a three star in comparison to three star hotels back in the U.K. The room was a little dusty in places, but apart from that, it was a great hotel. Decor...

Fantastic central and quiet location. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff were very helpful and the bed was comfortable. I slept well and felt very secure in this hotel. The heating system was a bit noisy and the bathroom remained cold (this was January)

You'll love Hotel alla Fava....especially the price. Within walking distance of the bridge and many shops and restaurants...the room is tiny but tidy....quiet and quaint. The breakfast was very nice, the staff very pleasant. You're in Venice ! The only time you're in the room is to sleep. A great bargain, especially if your stay is short.

We really did love our stay at this hotel! It was perfectly located just by the Rialto Bridge and also by St Marks Sqr- just about everything is within a very short walk. Convenient for sure. The room we had had a view over the square, high ceilings, en suite bathroom and plenty of space, especially by European hotel standards....

The hotel is situated in a perfect spot, only 4 minutes walk to the Rialto bridge and about 10 minutes to San Marco. The room was spotless and the breakfast (buffet) more than adequate. The staff were all helpful and very friendly, speaking various languages. Worth getting to San Marco for sunrise. Around the area are good places to eat.

All staff we met were pleasant and efficient. Some rooms small, but comfortable enough. Bathrooms may also be very small, and in ours shower needed frequent adjustments when in use. Breakfast area generally reasonably well stocked, but no fruit and it was very cramped. Cleanliness good.

Walked to our hotel, Hotel Alla Fava. Our room was ready and the man on the desk carried our bags up the 21 steps to our first floor room. Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
