We visited Hotel Becher on our honeymoon. The hotel is located very close to S. Marco and other major sites. Our room had a view of the canal that ran beside the hotel. The room was well appointed and comfortable. What really made our stay special was the amazing staff. They did everything they could to make our stay memorable...

My husband and I have just returned from our first trip to Venice. Completed a 12 day cruise with a couple of days at this hotel. Absolutely the best location for first timers. Staff is the most helpful and courteous of any we have encountered in our extensive travels. We do not usually stay at the smaller inn like hotels,...

We stayed recently in their junior suite for a splurge. The only thing I could fault is the gondolier traffic jams outside the window in the middle of the day (complete with soundtrack). Early morning and late afternoon/evening when the day trippers have gone is fabulous. The room was huge and had a Venetian mini balcony - you can just...

We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights - they gave our sons a canal view room while ours overlooked the entrance, which you should try to avoid due to noise and light. Room was perfectly adequate with a reasonably modern bathroom. The location is great, about half way between the Rialto bridge and Piazza San Marco. The staff were extremely...

Wow, what an experience!!! This hotel was close enough and far enough from everything. The staff were just amazing and the service was over the top. The rooms were spotless and the breakfast just right. The warm greetings to the help offered from where to go, how to buy a sim card for for our phone, to arranging a private...

Hotel is situated in heart of Venice, close to Marco polo Room was amazing and beautifully decorated. It makes you feel special. Can sit in front of lobby and wave to all Gondola's passing by. Lovely setup Helpful staff. Nice breakfast Bit pricey but its worth staying.

Hotel Becher is perfect, great location only 5 mins walk to San Marco, very good value for money, staff who can't do enough for you, beautiful rooms in typical venetian style, hotel has its own water landing stage, surrounded by lovely restaurants and shops, quiet location, rooms overlooking the canal, spotlessly clean, exceptionally well cared for, very good breakfast, what...

From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed, we cannot say enough about the graciousness of the staff - simply wonderful. Anna was kind enough to provide us with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco to enjoy on their hotel jetty with our friends one evening - such a lovely touch. Our room was beautiful - we stayed in...

After the mad rush of Rome, Venice was surreal and our stay at Hotel Becher was the icing on the cake. As the tourist season was just starting, the crowds were coming in thick and fast, but that did not stop us from taking in the magic of the place. The location of the hotel has to be one of...

A perfect hotel for a weekend trip to Venice. The location could not have been better. Since we arrived shortly before Midnight at Marco Polo we decided to take a water taxi for the transfer which can land directly at the hotel's mini jetty on the San Luca Canal. Although horribly expensive, it was worth the deal. The hotel itself...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
