Anna and Massimiliano ("Massimo") welcomed us at the water taxi landing with smiles and so much warmth that we felt we had known each other for years. Our party of six arrived before the official check-in time but they were very happy to store our mountain of luggage and assured us that they would ready our rooms as quickly as...

I would not have any hesitaton in reccommending this hotel, the staff - Massimo & Anna couldn't have been more friendy & helpful, the rooms were clean & beautifully furnished. It was in a perfect location to visit all the main attractions by foot & the nearest ferry stop was at St Marks Square only 5 minutes away. Overall it...

Nice, clean hotel in a good area of Venice. Just off the heavy tourist paths but only a few minutes walk to all the sights. Our room was quite small but the bathroom was spacious and all impeccably clean. Breakfast is substantial, if a little cramped on the ground floor. There is another breakfast room upstairs in an almost-corridor, which...

Myself and friend and our two daughters (age 20) stayed at Hotel Becher for 2 nights. I am wishing we had stayed much longer. The rooms were lovely, clean, spacious and comfy beds. The breakfasts were exceptionally good, the little balcony that sits over the canal provded us with hours of entertainment, the service was excellent with the manager answering...

This hotel is a good hotel, however, to find the hotel was quite difficult. But, I think, it was due to new area and the concept of boats to travel to correct station. Rest the staff was very polite and helpful. Overall excellent. In case I go again, maybe book the same hotel.

We loved this hotel because of excellent service, comfortable room, excellent breakfast and great location. The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I left a pair of shoes in the hotel room and the manager shipped them home to me in Australia. We thought the hospitality very good.

Finally get to write about this lovely hotel In Venice, which we stayed for my husbands 50th birthday. We were very graciously upgraded and given a bottle of sparkling wine. We arrived by public transport which was interesting if a little long and with the hotels directions found it after a few foot bridges no problem. Hotel Becher is run...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
