I totally agree with the most recent reviews. This is a great place. Our room was a bit small but who cares, you are there to see the sights. I was surprised to find that our room had a balcony. The staff was great. A solid breakfast. Very close to St Marks and Le Fenice. High end shopping is just...

Lovely, romantic room, very good breakfast, great location and wonderful staff. The breakfast area was a little tight but it was only a problem on our last morning there. Ate on the patio by the canal, but the weather was rainy so it wasn't as lovely as it could have been. A/C was a problem initially but it was handled...

Staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel is well located. Our room and balcony were both so tiny it was amusing, but hey you're in Venice! The wifi was hit and miss, but would we stay here again? Yes! We enjoyed our stay here.

We stayed at hotel Becher for 3 nights and it is perfectly situated between St Marks square and Rialto bridge. The staff were very friendly and the room was nicely decorated, if a bit small. The breakfast was great, it's not a fry up/full English affair but enough to fill most people up. The only niggles for us were the...

Wow what a beautiful hotel. Hidden away and not obvious as a hotel. Staff were absolutely 1st class, so helpful. Room was stunning and clean but no tea or coffee facilities BUT the staff were only too happy to make us tea which we had on the terrace whilst watching the gondolas pass by. 5 star would stay here again

A really good find. Charming helpful staff. Good breakfasts well presented. Comfortable room. Very good location- just by La Fenice. Rather cramped breakfast area. No hot water for one evening. We would go back!

We were totally unprepared for how chaotic Venice is! But this hotel is a bit of a tranquil oasis - the room was very quiet and restful. The room was a good size with lots of cupboard space and the bathroom was newly renovated and lovely. The breakfast room on the ground floor was so quaint only 5 tables but...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
