My room was spacious for a European boutique hotel as I booked a single but was put in a double. Bed was comfortable. Great TV with plenty of US UK news channels. It is noisy as you can hear people come through loudly if they speak in the hall while you are sleeping. The hotel bar is run by whoever is... More

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel while visiting Venice. The location is a bit awkward to find but so is just about anything in Venice to this is just part of the adventure in the city. The reception was clean and contains an elevator that appeared to be nearly brand new. The room we paid for overlooked the grand... More

We've just returned from our second stay at this hotel. We chose this one again as it's such a good location, within 5 minutes walk of St. Mark's square and also the nearest vaporetti stops. We had a deluxe room this time, which was very clean and spacious. Our only word of warning would be to request a lower floor... More

Booked a 3 night stay in a classic room but were given a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room (20) which had a view of the Grand Canal - room & bathroom both good size, tasteful decor & spotless. Reception & breakfast staff polite and attentive. Perfect location for exploring Venice as only 10 min walk to St Marks &... More

This hotel is the epitome of Venice - charming, quirky and wonderful. We were in room 26, which surprisingly came with a patio overlooking the Grand Canal - a great way to spend a late evening with a bottle of wine. Be prepared for Venice - don't pack a ton and I'd rethink even a wheeled suitcase. Room 28 -... More

Stayed here for 3 nights with my now fiancé and really enjoyed our stay here. We were in a classic room 2. It was comfortable and clean with a great bed, bathroom and shower. Perfect for our short stay in Venice. The breakfast is a small continental buffet with a selection of ham, cheese, bread, pancakes, cakes and cereals. Great... More

We just stayed in this hotel for a week. We had a family room under the roof. The service was good and the staff friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast in the dining room was plentiful. The room was a little warm even though it was October and we got bitten by mosquitos when we left the window open. However... More

Very pleased with the hotel. Excellent location. Lovely room 9 with glimpse of Grand Canal from the window. Very attractive breakfast spread, recommend the chocolate cake. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice restaurants in the square near academia bridge. Around this hotel is more expensive than Dorsoduro (across the bridge) eg slice of pizza near the hotel €3:50 across the bridge... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
