We're pretty new at using B&B's so, despite the great reviews I'd read about Sandra B&B, I was still a bit nervous about making a booking - particularly as we were celebrating our 20th Anniversay on this trip to Europe, so I wanted something a bit "special". Well, I shouldn't have worried because Sandra & Leonardo's accommodation was absolutely wonderful,...

I recommend Sandra's B & B for the following reasons: 1. Excellent communication from booking to arriving 2. Friendly and caring hosts - when I was ill for a day, Sandra made sure I would be looked after so the others could go out 3. Clean and comfortable bedrooms with good bathrooms 4. Excellent breakfast with a range of cereals,...

We stayed at Sandra B&B for 3 night. Sandra and Leonardo are great hosts. They provided us with great recommendations. B&B is located in a residential area, so it is quiet, which we liked a lot. It is about 20 minutes walking distance to S. Marco square. Great restaurants just few blocks away. The room was small, but very nice:...

Venice is our favorite city and now we have stayed at Sandra's we will be back for sure. We stayed for a week in the attic room with the terrace looking over Venice and enjoyed every minute. The breakfast was wonderful as Sandra is such a great cook and both Sandra and Leonardo were happy to answer all our questions....

My wife and I stayed at B&B Sandra for three nights. There cannot be a more gracious hostess in all of Italy than Sandra. She also provides what is probably the best breakfast buffet in Venice: ham, cheeses, yogurts, juice, coffee, teas, breads, cakes, and a beautiful fruit display. Her B&B is located in Cannareggio, a real Venetian neighborhood, on...

My mother and I stayed with Sandra for 3 nights to start off our trip to Venice, Florence and Rome. What a great way to start! The location was really good for walking to San Marco as well as the train station or a vaporetto and yet out of the main flow of tourist crowds. Quiet in the evenings, a...

If you want a special place to stay in Venice, B & B Sandra fits the bill. We had the pleasure of staying in the attic suite with our teenage son and the room was perfect for our needs. Quirky, but beautifully furnished, spacious, and with a little annex for our son to give us all privacy when needed. We...

Sandra runs a lovely and comfortable B and B in her home in Venice. It is in the family's large 2 story apartment on the fourth floor of a renovated building ( no elevator!). The room and en suite bathroom were faultlessly clean. Our only very minor problem was the roll away bed provided for my 15 year old son...

We first stayed in February 2002 as a young couple and last November 2010 with a 2 1/2 year old. Both times we were treated to the best hospitality and the most amazing breakfasts. Although a B&B Sandra and Leonardo provide excellent 3 star accommodation for 1 star prices. Both rooms are generous and en-suite. The one upstairs has a...

My wife and I found B&B Sandra in the Guardian review of the 10 Best B&Bs in Venice. We are extremely grateful. It is hard to believe there is a better B&B anywhere in Venice or anywhere else for that matter. The B&B is set in the relative calm of Canneregio and for those wanting something more unique and genuine...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
