If you come to Venice by car, Ca Doge could be a good choice as being a property that can be reached by car and with a private parking lot. For cruise passengers it is also convenient because one only take few steps to get the People Mover to the port. Otherwise there are a lot of very good and...

We stayed at the Ca Doge in the dependance, which has an elevator. the main hotel does not have an elevator. With luggage to log around it is very convinient. The room was spacious with a good size fridge and a new remodeled bathroom. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The best part for us was that we...

My wife and I stayed at Ca Doge for one night prior to our recent cruise from Venice. You take the bus from Marco Polo Airport to the end of the route--and you're there! Cheap and convenient trip from the airport. The People Mover, which whisks you and your luggage to the cruise ship terminal is right across the street,...

our one night stay at the Ca'Doge was what I expected - clean with adequate breakfast - nothing Inexpensive in Venice -- but it saved us dragging luggage around the island like hundres of other were doing. Has tv;safe clean beds and rooms - unfortunatel we were on second floor - no lift so does not suit anyone with hip...

Husband and I stayed here before taking a cruise out of Venice in June of 2013. We flew in the day before and wanted to stay somewhere close to the terminals. Excellent location right off of Piazzale Roma, and convenient to the cruise terminals.

There is nothing cheap when you combine the words "Venice & Hotel". It stands to reason that when you are in Venice you expect to pay premium rates for lodging. So when my wife and I decided at the last moment to drive over to Venice for a short visit, I was somewhat surprised that we were able to find...

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights at the end of a cruise. It was good to know from the outset (our cruise also embarked at this port) where we would be staying. This hotel is in the hub of the transportation area in Venice and for that reason, very handy. The exterior lacks curb appeal...

Venice is a very expensive city regarding hotels... Ca`doge is very good option specially if you are going to travel by for Italy, because is placed in the point when road arrive to Venice. Rooms are normal, clean and silent by night. All Venice can be visit walking.

We spent a night at the Ca' Doge Hotel mainly because we were taking a cruise next day. First of all the service is very good. Since the flight arrived late to Venice, they helped us by leaving the key and having the room ready. On the next day, they offered a room to keep the luggage in, which helped...

Arrived into Venice early in the morning, the staff at "Ca Doge" greeted us and even though we were quite early allowed us to check in and gave us a day in Venice. Located at Piazzale Roma, the Ca Doge is right where the buses, train and taxis arrive from Marco Polo airport and right across the street from the...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
