Stayed here a night so I could explore Venice yet still be close the the bus terminal. First of all if you don't feel like dragging luggage through Venice (or paying a porter to do so), or if you are going on a cruise the next day, this is the hotel for you. Located steps from the bus terminal and...

My husband and I booked this through airbnb and it was a complete disaster, first of all we were under the impression that we had booked an apartment, so when we got there and saw that we were staying at a building in a horrible parking lot, I was starting to get worried and it only got worse; we were...

The photo gives you the idea it is in a quiet isolate spot --- no, no, no. It is right at the major bus stop at the Plazzale Roma and the last place a car can take you to. A short walk and you are on the bridges over the various waterways to see the city. The rooms are pleasant...

We stayed here for one night after our cruise. The People Mover stop is right across the street from the hotel. We got there early before check-in and left our luggage in the small lobby. The desk clerk was nice and even helped drag our luggage up the steps, since there is no elevator. The room was ok with a...

This boutique hotel is wonderful throughout. Their on site parking is the cheapest in Venice, and has a very personalised service. The rooms are warm, very clean and comfortable. The staff will greet you kindly every day, and a complete all-included breakfast buffet is presented every morning. Overall, a 10/10.

Te restaurant was convenient for the night before the cruise as it is across the street from the people mover to the port and it's also near where the bus from the airport drops off, so convenient with luggage. The breakfast was typical continental help yourself but had decent variety. Our room was large with a comfortable bed for my...

This little hotel is very close to the parkings at the entrance to Venice. This means you get there, walk a bit if you come by train or park right in the hotel if you come by car. This is a big advantage in Venice since otherwise you have to carry your luggage around until you get to your place,...

I gave this hotel an extra star for its location. It is literally a few yards away from the bus terminal, the people mover and the vaporettos (water buses). The hotel is old but quaint. Our room was situated on the first level but in Europe it means the second floor so if you have mobility issues, this is not...

Stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights prior to a Cruise. Great rooms (no lift) nothing fancy but clean and the bed was very comfortable. Great breakfast included. Just a short walk to the glass bridge and all of the sights of Venice. Catch the shuttle bus from the Airport and the Hotel is right where the bus stop and...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
