The hotel was very nice, located in a quiet street and not too far by foot from all the main activities of Venice. The owner is nice and our room with private bathroom was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is simple but good, we were happy with it. Overall a nice experience and a good value for money.

The room was so small for 2adult and 2 children, it seems the room is for couple only and they squeeze another bed in the room. The wardrobe next to the door of the toilet if it's open the person in the toilet won't be able to come out. Very small no room to move around having active children. The...

Casa Mimma was very charming and clean and in a good location. We were quite close to the train station and easily within walking distance of all the main sites. The restaurants and shops around the place were a bit cheaper and less touristy, which was nice. Breakfast was good as well and I'd happily stay here again.

We had our fifth stay at Casa Mimma in May, each time we love it, and Venice, more and more. We feel as if we are one of the family, and are treated with such warmth. Soon after arrival I caught a terrible cold and had to spend a day in bed. The owners wife Rodica brought up a tray...

Firstly if you are approaching from the station there is a little alley way which you go through to get to the hotel which was a little tricky when arriving. It is dated and needs a coat of paint and freshen up but the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was served outside because of good weather and it is...

We rented the room which had a bathroom attached. The room was quite clean very comfortable, even had reading lights so you could see while in bed. Breakfast is a continental fare. Wi-fi is weak in our room, but the common area with tables and chairs was quite close. Had a beautiful court yard in the back of the property...

Location wise, good proximity from train station. Does the job for a night's rest/ sleep. However, bathroom not as clean as I'd prefer. Also after sitting on the bed for a while, my legs started to itch badly. Make me wonder if they reuse the topmost cover of the bed sheet (which matched with the curtains). Ended up chucking the...

Quality/price is quite low, I mean, the hotel is in a very strategic position but poorly furnished. Common spaces are quite squalid. If price was half of what we paid, Casa Mimma could be a convenient option when not caring too much about details and confort.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
