This place is the perfect way to experience Venice. We stayed for two nights in a big room on first floor with king size bed and a sofa bed so 4 people could sleep here. We spend hours sitting in the windows watching the canal and we had our breakfast in front of the open window so we could here...

We received a warm welcome from Adina when we arrived at Locanda Acquavita. The B&B was easy to find from the St. Lucia train station with the instructions and map that they emailed us the week before our arrival. Adina was very kind and helpful. She provided excellent directions to get around the city and to the other islands of...

This small B&B is typically Venitian. We had a small room (number 2, right off reception). It had a large bed, good storage space and a very large mirror that helped create the effect that the room was larger. The bathroom was tiny with no shower cubicle. The shower head and hose hung from the wall near the toilet and...

It is a lovely small hotel, only five rooms, very well located and easy to get to from the vaporetto. The room was comfortable, spacious, with two big windows overlooking the canal. It could get a little noisy but actually not a busy canal or street at all. There are good restaurants near by, and the breakfast in bed is...

My partner & I made our reservation of the economy room via booking.com. On this site the exact description is the following: "Bright, airy rooms at Locanda Acquavita are beautifully decorated in a typical Venetian style and come with modern comforts like satellite television. They overlook the characteristic streets and canals below". Well, THIS IS NOT COMPLETELY TRUE. We were given...

Finding an available and reasonably accommodation in Venice was very difficult. This Locanda has a very convenient location as it is a short walk from the Fondamento Nove vaporetti and unlike the rest of Venice, it is actually located in a quiet street. This was good as we found Venice in a tourist chaos. Adina was there to greet us....

We were very disappointed with this hotel. We had room 1 (San Andrea) on the ground floor, which contains 2 sleeping areas with a bathroom in between. Ideal for 2 adults and a child we thought. However, we found numerous problems with the room: e.g. tatty and broken furniture, and an air conditioning unit that leaked water onto the bed...

Excellent hotel in Venice, when we arrived we were met by Adina, very friendly lady, she showed us maps and gave handy tips about getting around Venice! The room was clean and spacious with a view of the canal outside! Location was perfect, 5min walk to main areas but away from the hustle and bustle! Restaurants and bars in this...

This hotel was in a quiet part of Venice, but still close enough to the shops, restaurants, etc. and to the waterbus. The hotel itself was 'olde worlde' Venice, large bedrooms, 4 poster bed, lovely painted wardrobes and a modern shower/bathroom. Breakfast was brought on a tray to our room and was a continental breakfast. We had a key to...

This is a great location. Near the boat from airport. Walk to everywhere. Nice and quiet. Canal lapping on wall outside. Very real experience in Rome.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
