A beautifully located and delightful guest house, with a little garden and courtyard. The owner, Mattia is wonderful- so helpful with suggestions of the best things to see and do and places to eat. This is a great base for a Venetian holiday and you really are among Venetians and away from the touristy areas. Beautiful walks nearby, picturesque canals and...

My husband and I stayed four nights on our first visit to Venice. The B&B is a short walk from Fondamente Nuove Alilaguna boat stop (web site directions were perfect). The top floor room was cozy, with refrigerator and lovely canal view. Mattia had great recommendations for restaurants and sights (in fact I think he may have been disappointed we...

The owner is amazing! Very helpful and will actually talk to you and tell you what the locals actually do in Venice, which is not San Marco square. Location is perfect! Close enough to walk to all the tourist spots and right where all the locals live and eat. It's near the best restaurants. Al Timon is the best! Breakfast...

Don't be put off by the detailed directions required to find this little gem - just follow them to a tee and you are rewarded with a delightful, well located Venetian guest house offering those elusive extras including canal views, an actual garden (rare in old Venice) where an ample breakfast is served and personal suggestions from Mattia, the host,...

My wife and I booked 3749 Ponte Chiodo because of the previous reviews on Tripadvisor and they proved to be 100% accurate. We are usually wary of the label 'guesthouse' which conjures images of sparse b&bs as a child. However, 3749 was perfect. Slightly off the beaten track, but within easy walking distance of all the major sites, this hotel...

I really enjoyed my stay here. I found the location to be perfect. It's easy walking distance to all of the main sites, and it's just few minutes away to a water bus stop. I also liked that it's just a bit off of the main thoroughfares so that it is quiet all during the day. I love that they...

Stayed here only for one night to see the sights of Venice. The hotel was absolutely beautiful with a cosy friendly feel, exactly like it's write up. A little tricky to locate but we'll worth it, with it's glorious scented garden and pretty rooms. Staff were wonderful and friendly, very helpful too. We loved the relaxed atmosphere, helping ourselves to...

Mattia, the owner of this GUEST HOUSE, and resident of Venice all his life presents the courtyard and rooms with great pride. He brings in addition to his warm hospitality a wealth of knowledge and is always wanting to engage with you to help make your journey through Venice a memorable one. We were at the end of a long trip in Italy and our last destination was Venice for 5 nights. I chose this sweet place because of the reviews and wanted to 'splash out' during our last week ...I also desired to be off the beaten track yet close to some restaurants and sites. 3749 Ponte Chiodo is easy to...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As our guests write: "A home away from home. Quiet, clean, convenient and very welcoming. Excellent location off the beaten track but still close to everything, located in not touristic and alive Cannaregio's district. If you are looking for lavish 4/5 stars Hotel with huge rooms furnished with fake baroque golden furniture please move on. If you visualize small bridges crossing the little canal outside your window, vine covered walls surrounding a patio and small garden and cappuccino every morning, then this is the place for you! The rooms are cozy and comfortable, their furniture original antique and well refurbished... Remember this is an old, Venetian home. No gyms. No pools. But a nice patio to enjoy breakfast or an evening glass of wine and cheese. You may also have the opportunity to meet some nice people from almost anywhere. The Venetian owner suggests local small restaurants and hidden itineraries through the wonderful unknown Venice". ... more   less
