We've just returned from a winter mini break in Venice, having stayed in a junior suite at this lovely hotel in Cannaregio. What sets this hotel apart for us, was the warmth and helpfulness of the staff working there. They were incredibly friendly and full of tips and ideas to make sure that our trip was as successful as possible....

The hotel is good for everything. Venice isn't a big place so everything is walking distance. And Ca'vendramin is in a nice quiet spot. Breakfast isn't too bad. The staff are very attentive and try to help you out as best they can! I'd definitely recommend this place for couples.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights last week.It was our first time in Venice and we were lucky enough to choose this hotel! We were greeted at reception by friendly and professional Tilly who showed us to our amazing Junior suite with canal view which was well worth the extra spend. The room was enormous, spotlessly clean and...

We stayed here for the weekend for our wedding anniversary. Although the staff were great and the hotel looks amazing the little extras are just not there. While in Venice it rained quite a lot and we had hoped to dry some clothes on the heater or the towel heater that was in the bathroom. Neither of these worked and...

The hotel was good quality but didn't really offer anything over the top. It was good for a short stay and the staff was helpful. The bathroom was large, however the room was rather small and did not love the location of the room directly in the front of the building. The hotel is slightly off the main path which...

Hotel with striking interiors, efficient check in with comfortable room. Off the beaten track but not too far from all the sights in Venice which adds to the charm. Breakfast was sufficient but limited hot options. Helpful staff although sometimes missing from reception with a desk bell that didn't work. If you are looking for a full service hotel with...

Highly recommend, beautiful Venetian hotel, quiet area yet still central (10mins walk from piazza Roma) and close to water bus. Friendly staff and very clean rooms. Breakfast was good and they even offered gluten free items on request. Would definitely visit again!!

This hotel in 5 minutes walk from the water bus stop. Very easy to find. On a quiet residential canal. Gorgeous entrance/breakfast room. We had a standard room which was very quiet in the old part of the hotel. It was small, but nicely decorated in keeping with the old part of the hotel. Everything was very clean and worked...

Stayed here earlier this month. Generally very few criticisms but just one or two faults that separated it from excellent and the very good rating given. Also arrived via a private water taxi transfer which was very expensive but the alternative would have been a bit of a trek through Venice and over all the bridges with all the luggage...

Concur with the comments about the location being good, but at the start it is a bit confusing because of Venice being a confusing for someone's first visit. We spent 70 EURO taking the water taxi when frankly it would be less expensive just walking to it, but it is Venice and why not embrace the Canal despite the cost....

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
