We stayed 2 nights in this hotel for our wedding anniversary (double room, shared bathroom) and we did not enjoy the hotel very much. The service was minimum: there was no soap or shampoo in the common bathroom. I have demanded shampoo twice and they told me they would provide some but they never did. Due to some recent law,... This was our first visit to Venice, Italy and it took us awhile to find the hotel, but once we did we had a really lovely stay at the Al Pozzo B & B. The hotel has lots of artsy Italian charm and is centrally located in a vibrant section of Venice close to shopping and endless dining options. Our... More

We were buzzed into the building and given keys and directions to our room by someone on her way out for the day. That was the only face time with the staff we had by the second morning of our stay. With breakfast served at 9AM, most active travelers would already be out and about seeing the plethora of sights... More

This is a very nice place to stay in Venice. We were two couples, staying in two bedrooms, sharing a bath. The rooms were quite nice, and the bathroom was large and accommodating. The location is excellent. Flo and " Mr. Flo" were charming hostess and host preparing a lovely breakfast on the inviting porch. It is just one flight... More

We spent two nights with 2 children (aged 9 and 12) mid-July. Not only Florence, the owner, is really nice and welcoming but also helped us optimized our short stay in Venice: recommendations about the best charming places to eat in order to feel like locals, where to go (and not to) and lots of explanation about the city. We... More

Our stay in Florence and Hugues B&B was absolutely excellent ! Our hosts are very kind and full of good advices to visit Venice : they know the right venitian shops, they know the restaurants with true venitian food and all the tricks to spend 4 days discovering the marvels of the town without being standard tourists. We can only... More

We had mixed feelings about our stay. There is nothing wrong with the B&B – the rooms are nice and clean, the location is good, and the high priced Venice the value is fine. The owners are indifferent to their guests. The service was basically here are your keys, this is the bill. The other places we stayed at in... More

My wife and I stayed here in May of 2011. When we first got here there was no one to greet us. It is located in a dark plaza. When we got there we were instructed as to where to find the keys. When we got to our room there was not a adapter for my C Pap machine as... More

We saw the photo, and we communicated with the owner ( who is very nice) however, when we got there, it wasn't what we were expecting. The room we got was good size wise, bathroom clean, but the bath tub , or should I say half tub was rather uncomfortable for a shower. The double bed (the one in the... More

The room itself was acceptable. However, it was very difficult to find, and the owner was not there to greet us. The bathroom was unacceptable-very narrow and one had to stand with both feet planted at each end of the tub to avoid slipping. There was no stopper in the tub. The breakfast was practically non existent-two pieces of stale... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

The rooms are really spacious, confortable (air conditioning) and so quiet: from the windows you will be able to admire the classical old Venitian courtyards that surround our building. One of these hosts an ancient well, which gave its name to our Bed&Breakfast. Pozzo = well. There is also the old system to bring the water directly at the house at the first floor to one of our blaconies. You can use the small lovely TERRACE, really green spot in the heart of Venice! You will take the breakfast in this terrasse but you can also use it during the day after your walking visits in the historic center.
