This is a lovely little B & B. It really is, tucked away behind an un-obtrusive doorway down a street near the grand canal. It really has a great feel. Upon arriving, we were greeted by Marco, who truly is a great host. Not only does he man the front desk, but serves the breakfast upstairs in the morning. The...

Marco is a wonderful host and provided us with a great map...probably the most used map ever! We had the apartment and we did breakfast in our room so we didn't go up to enjoy the daily breakfast; however, the breakfast room and patio are lovely. Good location and the air conditioning was great, the bedroom was dark, the bed...

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Marco was a lovely host. The location is the bes in Venice, in the middle of all the authentic restaurants, bars and stores. Still very close to all the tourist attractions. We loved the breakfast, great selection of breads and pastries with attentive service. Our room was comfortable and had a private bathroom...

Al Campaniel was a good place for my friend and I to stay for our few days in Venice. it's a great location if you're looking to stay in the heart of Venice. And if you're lugging a lot of luggage with you, it's only a 2 minute walk from one of the vaporetto stops.Great location near water bus stop.An...

Quant b&b with nice breakfast and helpful manager. The room we stayed in had a bathroom outside the room, which I was not aware of until we arrived. Seemed a bit pricey given that, but I think that is Venice. Easy to walk to train and bus station and very close to a vaporetto bus stop. Far walk to San...

Spent a week with a writing group. Small and quaint "pensione" where you will not have to break the bank as some Venetian hotels belong to that group. A nice breakfast is included. The host Marco is genteel and most helpful. Go for a superior room.

This is an excellent b&b within walking distance to everything. Marco is an gracious host and makes sure you have a wonderful experience. This time we visited during a heatwave, and the a/c was a life saver. The restaurants recommended by Marco were excellent.

We stayed for 2 nights in August 2015. Marco was a lovely host and the room was very clean and quite large. The A/C worked well and there was free wi-fi. We had a front room over the street but didn't notice any noise. There isn't a television. The bathroom had a shower which worked well. There was a nice...

Al Campaniel is perfectly located between the Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square, with the Vaperetto almost on the doorstep. Marco is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are neat and well serviced. Ww would love to return to Venice, and when we do we will definitely stay here again!

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
