Staff was friendly and accommodating. They explained that we didn't need a water taxi to the airport for an early flight, saving us $100. Good breakfast, in a quaint secret garden with an automatic espresso/cappuccino maker. Our shower was the biggest we had among our four Italian hotels. Hotel was convenient to both the Grand Canal vaporetto and to the...

This was our first trip to Venice. I had heard that it can be like a 'theme park' in some areas (eg. Rialto Bridge). My wife and I are big Rick Steves fans, and found this hotel in his guide book. It is in a neighborhood where real Venetians live - and made our visit much more enjoyable. it is...

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Rezzonico. The breakfast was lovely in their private garden and the neighborhood is wonderful. You really get a fee for Venitian life. Our only problem was noise at night coming from the local university students we assume. Next time we will ask for a room in the back and not on the canal...

The bed and room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was nicely updated. Breakfast was ok. The communication from Casa Rezzonico was the best by far of all the places we stayed over a 3 week trip. They are wonderful, kind and caring managers willing to help as needed with directions or questions you may have. Our room overlooked the...

Friendly and helpful staff. Located in an interesting neighborhood on a quiet back canal, but with excellent access to a vap stop. A wonderful place to come back to at night. The breakfast garden was especially enjoyable.

This small hotel is located along a quiet canal off the Grand Canal. It is very quiet, the rooms clean and air conditioned, the staff very friendly and the welcome is always warm. It is located very near two plazas with plenty of restaurants and bars. The Academia Bridge is nearby allowing quick access to St. Mark's Square. The location...

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Casa Rezzonico. The location, away from St. Mark's Square, is perfect with a great canal view room. It was peaceful all day at the hotel and provided a great place to recharge. Breakfast on the patio was super cute and the staff was excellent. We would definitely stay here again!

We spent a day and night in Venice and enjoyed Casa Rezzonico very much. It was off the beaten path, but close to the Grand Canal. The room was very clean, with nice size bathroom, a/c and coffee maker. The breakfast they served in the a.m. was wonderful. Great way to start the day. The back yard garden was a...

Modest but nicely situated hotel, 15 minutes walk from train station, and 3 minutes to water bus stop (with access to Grand Canal and the airport). Overlooks canal. Room clean and good size, with air-conditioning. Owners friendly, a modest breakfast included in nice backyard. Location is key: this is in quieter part of city, but excellent selection of shops/bars/restaurants just...

The rooms, the bathrooms, and the general areas were clean and set up tastefully. The beautifully designed small garden is very nice and relaxing - having breakfast in the garden was memorable. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes to stay somewhat away from the crowds close to main attractions but close enough to be there within...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
