Our space was quiet and peaceful with a lovely garden view. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We only got to stay in Venice for 2 days and one was rainy, but the spacious room provided the respite we were looking for.

Casa Rezzonico is a ten minute walk from Piazzale Roma train and bus station. It is located in the Academia section of Venice and is convenient to all the sights one wants to see. Matteo was most accommodating, offering suggestions for places to eat in the neighborhood. The breakfast was a typical spread of cereals, yogurts, rolls, croissants and juices.... More

This place was a disappointment. The staff was friendly. However, the furniture and feel in the room was very disappointing. It was old (not antique) and the room looked very dingy and rundown. This is a very small hotel with few amenities. We wouldn't go back.

Facing the San Barnaba canal with a delightful garden at the rear, the location was convenient whichever direction you wanted to follow. As for the accommodation, Matteo and Mattia were both friendly and helpful. Breakfast was typically Venetian, a choice of juices, cereals, jams, yoghourts and croissants. Coffee was from a machine so you could eat and drink to your... More

The hosts were very nice to first time visitors to Italy. Great location within few hundred yards of the vaporretto stop along a charming side canal and within walking distance of many of the main tourist attractions.

We could only stay one night - sorry it couldn't be longer. Matteo & Mattia were most gracious and helpful hosts. Our room was very spacious and the ensuite bathroom quite recently renovated. We would certainly return. Great location in what seemed to be a predominantly residential neighbourhood.

Casa Rezzonico is on a small canal, off the beaten track but close enough to the attractions, Grand Canal and train station that we were able to walk to everything. Breakfast is served in a lovely inner garden area which also serves as a welcome mid day or evening retreat after sight seeing. Staff are helpful and our room was... More

This is the second time we have stayed at Casa Rezzonico in Venice. This small hotel is located in a central part of the city. It is very charming, right on a canal, very clean, with a lovely courtyard to relax and visit. The continental breakfast is very nice; cheese, pastry, cereals, coffee and tea. The breakfast is set out... More

Staff was friendly and accommodating. They explained that we didn't need a water taxi to the airport for an early flight, saving us $100. Good breakfast, in a quaint secret garden with an automatic espresso/cappuccino maker. Our shower was the biggest we had among our four Italian hotels. Hotel was convenient to both the Grand Canal vaporetto and to the... More

This was our first trip to Venice. I had heard that it can be like a 'theme park' in some areas (eg. Rialto Bridge). My wife and I are big Rick Steves fans, and found this hotel in his guide book. It is in a neighborhood where real Venetians live - and made our visit much more enjoyable. it is... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
