This hotel consists of three adjacent locations. We stayed in the "Annex" that offered a very large bedroom, newly updated bathroom, and was decorated with antique furniture and a large Murano glass chandelier. The hotel is just off the main canal near the San Stae boat-bus stop; restaurants and the Venice sights are easily accessed by boat or a short...

We had a lovely visit at this quaint Venice hotel. Prior to our arrival the staff was wonderful at communicating exactly how to arrive. The room was a good size. Breakfast was the best of anywhere we stayed on this ten day trip! The staff were very helpful at providing directions and advice. We enjoyed the neighborhood as well.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, and spoke very good English. The room was large and quirkily glamorous, with red decor and an enormous golden, scrolled headboard - very characterful and comfortable - and so quiet! The breakfast waitresses were lovely and the buffet breakfast had a lot of choice, and there was plenty of it. The area is...

Stayed here for 3 nights and were pleasantly surprised by the level of service and the hospitality of the staff. We stayed in a room in the annex and it was perfect for us, clean, spacious and quiet. The hotel is close to San Stae stop on the grand canal and couldn't be better located. We will definitely be going...

It says it all when you visit a hotel for a second time. We stayed at this hotel on our last visit to Venice and had no hesitation in booking it again. It's a lovely, clean, friendly hotel. Beautiful rooms, lovely staff and well located. The breakfast was plentiful sets you up well for the day and the ladies serving...

My boyfriend and I spent a night here on a quick trip to Venice and loved it. The receptionists were kind and helpful, the rooms were clean and ornate, and the location was great -- about a 20 minute walk from San Marco. The rooms aren't actually all in the "hotel" in a traditional sense; our room was actually located...

Another superb stay at hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo. My mum and I shared the suite in the annex building, which was so spacious and quiet. Very glamorous rooms and only metres from the main hotel if we needed anything. Great location and handy for getting to and from the airport, and also close to all the major sites. Delicious breakfast...

This hotel was very close to the action, but not in the middle of heavy tourist traffic. It was slightly difficult to find at 11:30 PM, but that was largely our fault (note to self: print out a map from train station to hotel in case phone GPS doesn't work/phone dies). Breakfast was wonderful! Cold cuts, cheese, pastries, fruit, caffeinated...

Superbly located right in the middle of all the action but just off the beaten track so offering a quiet interlude from the nearby tourist destinations. Ignore the advice for arriving via the bridge to the left of the vaparetto unless you are a mountain goat. Instead just walk straight from the vaparetto (San Stae) down the alley in front...

The owner is very welcoming along with all the other hotel staff. Almost all speaks good english. Bread served during breakfast is freshly baked. Very near the vaporetto station, a comfortable and convenient boutique hotel to stay in. Highly recommended!

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
