Our vaporetto stop was San Stae and with our luggage on wheels, clip clopping behind us we made our way though the stone passageways, over tiny bridges experiencing the feeling of being in a maze that is so typical of Venice. The narrowness of the last left turn led us to brass plate on a door- Ca' Bonvicini. Upon entering...

We stayed here in April 2009. We found the place utterly charming, with lovely furnishings and the staff wonderfully friendly. The location is off the beaten path-- away from the crowds of San Marco and Rialto, yet still a close walk (5-10 minutes to Rialto). The peace and quiet at night was wonderful...and the morning continental breakfast-in-bed was divine. Cappucino,...

Quit location, but close enough to reach every important place by foot. The room was spacious, vanity mirror in the room, an amazing bathroom, double shower heads, great water pressure. Great value for the money we paid (195 euros/night) and included a typical Italian breakfast of coffee/milk/juice, croissants/rolls, melba toast/nutella, and yogurt. We will definitely stay here again, if we...

When I stumbled across this hotel on the internet I fell in love with it, I am now writing this review having just got back and I am still truely madly deeply in love with it...and Venice itself :-) The photos on the website are identical to Ca Bonvicini, even so much as the towels in the pictures are the...

The hotel is situated away from the tourist crowds and is very welcoming! Breakfast is delivered to your room and is a wonderful spread (croissants, toast, jams and coffee). The room was spacious (we stayed in a mid priced one) and the decor stunning. Reasonably priced and within easy walking distance of the Rialto bridge and St. Mark's square.

We stayed at Ca Bonvicini for a long weekend in February and really enjoyed it. Ca Bonvicini is located in a residential area of Venice (St Polo), making everything easily accessible - 5 min to Rialto and 10 to St Mark's Square. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was a grade up from the standard rooms and...

This charming B&B had been recommended by friends who were also totally satisfied. It was easy to get to, far enough from the crowds but only a short distance to all major attractions. We will definitely return. Only recommendation would be to provide a pot of coffee with breakfast. Only one cup was not sufficient for us and it was...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
