This is a tiny hotel that is hard to notice, but it is very conveniently arranged. Rooms, and in particular bathrooms, are so tiny, we wondered whether everyone would be able to fit in there. Overall it felt a fairy tale/toy castle .. with beautiful Venetian-type furniture and wallpapers. Everything is tiny and super-lovely. Had my daughter been there, I...

Dear AliciaVik, thank you for your kind review. We are happy to hear that you had a dreamy experience with us! We would like to point out that the palace in which our B&B is placed it's an original building (more than 300 years old), which of course means that our rooms are smaller than the one you can find...

A small B&B hotel with Excellent location. Walking distance to anything worth visiting and doing in Venice old town. This small hotel is nice, clean, and has very service minded personnel. The breakfast is also "small", but includes anything an Italian breakfast should. Just make sure, you ask Reception/Breakfast host, on which side of the bread case the Non marmelade...

Dear Michael H, thank you very much for yourbeautifulreview. We are happy to hear that your vacation with us has been splendid. Elevators are very rare in the city, since all the building are original (ours is more than 300 years old) and back then this technology wasn't exisintg. We went to Venice during the last days of carnival and we spent there three days. As soon as we arrived at Ca Leon D'Oro we were greeted with a glass of prosecco on arrival. We completely missed the fact initially it's so close to the Rialto bridge; especially helpful when you are commuting in and out of the city. The layout is a bit awkward but acceptable given that it's in middle of the city....

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
