The hotel is in a great location and the staff are really friendly and helpful. We arrived late and the receptionist helped us take our bags up to our rooms as well as show us nearby attractions. On checkout the receptionist kindly printed our plane boarding passes. The rooms also have a power charging station which is very helpful. Hotel...

I found this hotel via booking.com and fell in love with the photos and it is just as elegant in real life. The hotel staff recognized it was our honeymoon and was able to offer us a room upgrade at a reduced rate which was well worth doing. Not only that, they also went out their way to deliver breakfast...

It was a very nice place to stay. The bed was comfortable (we slept for 13 hours!), the room was nice and clean and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were very helpful and gave recommendations of things to see. It was also great that the staff I spoke to spoke English. Was a great place to stay for my...

What a great location - tucked away on a quiet square but just a short walk from all the main sights. Manager Guilia was both humorous and helpful. All of the staff were lovely to work with. Our room was made ready early for us as our flight arrived in the AM. The breakfast was always delicious and the cappuccinos...

Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed with the modern fixtures fitting well with the beautiful old building's character and mood. The public spaces were lovely - can't say enough about the glass chandeliers! But best of all were the staff who gave us every consideration and made us feel as welcome as old friends.

Dear k8coleman, Thank you for this great review. You make me proud of my staff! You say 'true' palace: absolutely appropriate! The former owners of the Palace asked us to restore it mantaining and bringing to life again all the original decorations, inserts, bas-reliefs, frescoes: they still live in a back side and they can see our 'piano nobile' from...

Spacious, breathtaking views. Room 21 had 2 balconies..The staff couldn't be more accomodating. We got lost trying to find the hotel from the Train Station...The hotel immediately had our bags brought up to the room and had 2 Bellini's waiting for us....How gracious. The breakfast was wonderful. Helped us with air travel and boat trips. Would only recommend this hotel...

I stayed in a triple room with friends for 2 nights in October and was very pleased with this hotel. The hotel is located right on a nice plaza, facing Santa Maria Formosa and they serve you a welcome glass of wine up on their little terrace overlooking the square. Our room was nicely updated, with a large bed (actually...

A beautiful hotel seeped in history. Staff were exceptional particularly Giuliani. Rooms very spacious and we opted for room with balcony. All the rooms are unique with fabulous features. Simple breakfast but just perfect. Location is central for getting around Venice.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. The room we had was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the wifi was excellent. We were given great advice about restaurants and stores by the young woman at the reception desk. Only two small complaints: small bars of soap and the extra blanket was old and scruffy. Great shower! Very convenient to St Marks...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
