Spent 3 nights in Venice at Al Teatro in late May/early June and everything was great. The room and bathroom were spacious, A/C worked well and Eleonora was a very helpful, gracious host. Wifi was free for I think up to the first 3 or 4 hours and then every 3 or 4 hours thereafter was just a few euro...

My fiance and I recently visited Venice & at the last minute changed our accommodation from a large hotel to this quiet family run bed & breakfast. How lucky were we as we landed in Al Teatro. This quaint B&B is in a prime location for those travellers keen to wake up close to the main tourist attractions and within...

It was so nice to get a feel of an Italian house and how a family lives. The location was great; close to the vaparetto stop and overlooking one of the side canals which was beautiful. Eleanora was such a lovely person; friendly, kind and caring and very enthusiastic about teaching me Italian. She was extremely helpful and gave us...

Perfectly located, a warm lovely room overlooking a canal, great breakfast and hostess with a sense of humor and a wonderful sense of how to get the most of a Venice stay. From favorite small restaurants to what to see and not to see, we left feeling we had a good friend in Eleanora!

Al Teatro B & B was perfect for us on our recent visit to Venice. We had four in one room and there was still space left to move around. Room and bathroom were very clean. Very convenient location. Five minutes walk from the Santa Maria del Giglio vaporetto stop. Less than ten minutes walk to St Marks Square and...

Hi travellers, Just wanted to share with you a great weekend which we had in Venice. Originally planned to stay in a hotel in Mestre, outside of the main island, but thankfully found a B&B literally 5 min walk from St Marks square. It could not have been better located and the service we received was second to none. Al...

This B&B is located in a great area of Venice that's easily accessible using the vaporetto and the walking directions provided. Our room was very large with a balcony overlooking a canal used by gondolas which made the atmosphere amazing. The bed was comfortable and the shower and bathroom was nice and modern. Although it was nice, this was our...

We stayed at Al Tetro B&B for 3 days in May. It was a wonderful place, off the beaten path, but close to everything. Our host, Eleonora, was full of advice and very pleasant. She was born and raised there and knows just about anything you can ask her about. Our room was HUGE and very clean and comfortable with...

This B&B was a classic find. A gold mine! The home has been in Eleonora's family for generations. She and her husband have remodeled the place, keeping its old-world charm while updating the amenities to first-class standards. Breakfast alone is worth the trip. Eleonora prepares coffee, either "Americano" or "Italiano" and provides an assortment of fruits and pastries. Then, just...

My husband and I spent two nights here and found it to be very pleasant. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking a canal. Eleonora was very helpful with directions and recommending restaurants and sites to see. This is a great location as it is near St. Marks Square yet away from the crowds and noise. Would definitely...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
