Hi travellers, Just wanted to share with you a great weekend which we had in Venice. Originally planned to stay in a hotel in Mestre, outside of the main island, but thankfully found a B&B literally 5 min walk from St Marks square. It could not have been better located and the service we received was second to none. Al... More

This B&B is located in a great area of Venice that's easily accessible using the vaporetto and the walking directions provided. Our room was very large with a balcony overlooking a canal used by gondolas which made the atmosphere amazing. The bed was comfortable and the shower and bathroom was nice and modern. Although it was nice, this was our... More

We stayed at Al Tetro B&B for 3 days in May. It was a wonderful place, off the beaten path, but close to everything. Our host, Eleonora, was full of advice and very pleasant. She was born and raised there and knows just about anything you can ask her about. Our room was HUGE and very clean and comfortable with... More

This B&B was a classic find. A gold mine! The home has been in Eleonora's family for generations. She and her husband have remodeled the place, keeping its old-world charm while updating the amenities to first-class standards. Breakfast alone is worth the trip. Eleonora prepares coffee, either "Americano" or "Italiano" and provides an assortment of fruits and pastries. Then, just... More

My husband and I spent two nights here and found it to be very pleasant. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking a canal. Eleonora was very helpful with directions and recommending restaurants and sites to see. This is a great location as it is near St. Marks Square yet away from the crowds and noise. Would definitely... More

Friend and I shared the Pink Room for our 3 night stay overlooking the juncture of 3 canals, a bridge over to Calle Maria Callas on the lovely back side of La Fenice. Eleonora is gracious and helpful and prepares a wonderful breakfast of cold meats, cheeses, yogurts, fruit, cereals, juices and coffee. Easy to find from vaporetto stop Giglio... More

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in this B&B. Very easy to find from the Giglio water taxi stop. The room and dining room were exceptionally clean. The host was charming, helpful and friendly. Our room windows looked straight down to the canal which was very entertaining but the double glazed windows and shutters meant we could still get... More

The hosts: Eleonora and Fabio are "real Venetians" raising 2 teenagers, who make you feel at home in Venice. My wife and I were first time visitors, and they explained the Vaporetto water bus service which is the mass transit of Venice. The B&B is 5-7 minutes from San Marco, 2 minutes from Giglio stop on the Vaporetto, and just behind... Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
