Very central, comfortable and clean with a delightful terrace planted with shrubs overlooking a canal and boat landing. However, the service could be improved in the bar service which was closed for all of the 3 mid-week nights we stayed, which is not acceptable for a 4 star hotel. Drinks were brought over, reluctantly, from the bar the hotel owns...

This was our first night in Italy and we were spoiled. The location can't be beat, it is literally right off San Marco square. Our room was very nice but we were upgraded to a larger room than what we had booked, so I think the normal room would have been smaller. Very nice bathroom, mable everywhere, and everything clean....

We went to celebrate our 10th anniversary....we pretty much were in the city during day time and only used the hotel to change and night time. As everyone would know, Venice is quite expensive and hotel is quite basic and clean and comfortable for where it is located. However, I would not consider it as a 4 star internationally....may be...

We booked through Expedia, and chose this hotel because of its excellent reviews. Although it is in a central location and our room, while small, was very comfortable, and if we hung out one of the windows we could see the canal below! However, I was a little disappointed and considered it was pretty average compared to other 4 star...

Wonderful location, courteous and friendly staff, delightful ambience, outstanding breakfast, top-notch accomodations, a stone's throw from St. Mark's and right on a canal with a patio---ideal for relaxing and watching the gondolas go by---WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?! I DO recommend arriving by water taxi. It's just too easy and so worth it!

Another great stay at this hotel. Everyone very helpful and polite - staff on reception, especially Marco and Barbara, and Roberto and the other very cheerful assistant in the beautiful breakfast room - what a way to start the day! Hotel was full at end of our stay, but still a very relaxed and tranquil atmosphere. Weather warm enough to...

This hotel was a splurge, but delivered! Right next to St Mark's Cathedral, private boat landing near the Bridge of SIghs, immaculate. My better half is a paraplegic in a wheelchair, and the spacious accessible suite, with extra roll-in shower, well suited us. Lavish and tasty breakfast buffet. Friendly staff. Location, location, location!!! We were able to walk/roll throughout the...

Fantastic Comfortable Stay. The rooms were huge! We booked a Junior Canal View Suite, and we were so impressed .It had 4 opening windows overlooking the canal. The main bedroom was huge with an oversized King bed and great pillows! There was a smaller 2nd bedroom, which we used as a dressing room. There was also a huge marble bathroom...

I confirm all positive reviews on this hotel. Rooms are nice and they are big for Venetian standards. Free wifi connection, too. Staff is very helpful, especially a maid named Angela who made every effort to feed my daughter (getting her a cup of strawberries in January!). Location is unbeatable: your are really 50 steps away from San Marco Square...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

A classy, elegant, luxury boutique hotel, the Donà Palace is a four star property overlooking the Rio at the Doge's Palace with its famous Bridge of Sighs, just a few steps from Europe's largest drawing room, Saint Mark's Square. The Hotel Donà Palace's exclusive setting in the historic heart of Venice is favoured for its priviledged position.
