Having celebrated 8 Venice Carnivals in the 90's, I was really looking forward to rediscovering La Serenissima and what better base than the enchanting Aman Venice located in the beautiful & historic Palazzo Papadopoli, one of the few palaces with a garden located on the Grand Canal.

Magnificent Venetian Palazzo revisited with tasteful contemporary interiors with a discreet but friendly service and a very knowledgeable front desk / concierge.

The Sansovino Stanza suite with its carved ceilings, painted frieze and wood panelling offers a unique experience to step back in time while enjoying every modern comfort.

In the busy city of Venice, the Aman truly is a rare and refined oasis of calm and understated luxury.

Thank you so much for making my stay so enjoyable !

The Aman was our first choice of hotel when we decided to visit Venice for my first time and it was the perfect venue. My wife had been many years before, but I had been reluctant to visit because of number of tourists which is made even worse by the visiting cruise ships who bring the hoards which spoil the “living museum” which is Venice. I’m pleased the local population are trying to put a halt to these floating cities that will ruin this beautiful place.

The hotel, Palazzo Papadopoli was a private home to a Greek family who still retain the top floor for their exclusive use. In the true Aman style, the number of rooms total only 24 despite this being a large building, spanning two wings. There is a small gym, if walking around the canals and sights isn’t enough excercise, and an in-house spa if you over do it. We used the spa and found it to be very good, as you would expect. The rooms are exceptional, we had room 18 which was a palazzo bedroom and was very spacious with a separate large bathroom / dressing room and beautiful fresco on the ceiling.

When Aman took the building over (I think in 2013?) they did an outstanding job of the refurb. Each and every time I walked past the ballroom I had to stop and stare at its magnificence. The adjacent bar almost equal in its grandiose. The stairway, jaw dropping. The beautiful garden overlooking the Grand Canal, a great place to enjoy breakfast and (later in the day) a spritz. I could go on, but I think you get my point. I read somewhere that “it is widely regarded as the best hotel in Venice” and we couldn’t disagree.

The staff continue the “Aman Family” ethos throughout brand. One day we returned by water taxi from the island of Burano and to our embarrassment I realised we didn’t have any cash to pay! No problem, the guy on the door took the money out of his wallet and just added it to our bill. It’s little things like this which set the staff at Aman apart. I would like to have remembered their names, but the lady in reception and the lady at breakfast were so nice to us, thank you both.

My only qualm was the cost of the airport transfer at €400 each way. Instead, we used a private company with exactly the same style of boat and was charged €100, so I would suggest you do the same. Or alternatively, maybe Aman should include it in their room rate like every other Aman hotel we have stayed at and do it for “free”.

Set just beyond the Rialto bridge this beautiful Baroque palazzo cant be missed.
A short trip by boat and greeted warmly by the charming Mr.Garavaglia upon arrival was very
welcoming and a nice touch.
We were ushered to the garden for drinks and then showed around.
The room we had was very spacious as any Aman
we had been… bed and bedsheets so comfy, scent of melograno around, spacious toilets and complimemtary drinks and snacks.
The palazzo is work of art, a beauty, impossibly elegant.
Gilded cielings and work of art around you, like a museum.
The nobile lounge is gorgeous with view to the canal and food is tasty. Spa was very Zen…lovely facials.
Service is impeccable and no wish is too much… very Aman.
Aman Venice is gorgeous in every way, it exudes elegance, art and history.
To all the staff and Mr Garavaglia…Thank you for making our stay special, the card, flowers and cake for our anniversary are simply gorgeous!
We love Aman an will be alway remain Aman junkies!

A perfect stay in a perfect hotel

Gorgeous from start to finish. Wonderful thoughtful staff. Beautiful rooms and public spaces - just sit on the jetty and watch life go by on the Grand Canal, or pop out of the hotel by the ‘secret’ back gate and you are near the vaporetti and the whole of Venice.

Both front (with bar and seating area on the Grand Canal) and rear gardens are pleasant to be in. Even the least expensive rooms (nothing is cheap) which overlook the back gardens are large and peaceful. Huge bathrooms and large bedrooms.

Breakfast is anytime you want it.

More like a home than a hotel.

My friends and I were there for my birthday and I would like to thank the GM Licinio for the outstanding service he and his staff provided! All our wishes were fulfilled with such an attention to detail. Licinio himself is a very hands on GM and I love him for that. The Aman Venice is by far the best Hotel in Venice. The food was super delicious, refined and the real Italian cuisine. The Staff in the Bar, especially the Lady who worked in the morning in the lounge was extremely helpful and attentive. I really hope we get to stay there soon again and I can only recommend this beautiful property that highlights the beautiful architecture of Venice!
Thanks again to the Amanto make our stay unforgettable.

WOW! That’s about the best way to describe this place. I haven’t stayed in many 5-star hotels before, but I’ve stayed in a couple, and this one is on another plane in terms of luxury, staff, comfort, etc….
The building itself is like a work of art, with intricate carvings and decor throughout. The room itself was beautiful, overlooking the garden area. Huge, comfortable bed; lots of space to spread out, sit by the window in a comfy chair; just all-around very comfortable (easy room in which to relax!). The bathroom alone was bigger than most hotel rooms, with a big, beautiful shower, 2 sinks, and a large sitting area (with super-comfy chair).
The outdoor garden area was gorgeous and the food was delicious. And the location right on the water couldn’t be better.

I was very excited to stay at Aman Venice having been to two Aman hotels before with extraordinary experiences. The stay was very disappointing, our room was the "cheapest" one available, at 2,500 Euros a night, and it is exactly what you would expect from a Hilton or Marriott, a completely standard room, run down with mediocre furnishings and in need of maintenance. Service is excellent, everyone is very polite and capable. Food is very good, not extraordinary. Breakfast is ok. I received an email with our folio for incurred expenses and they also tell me that no gratuity has been added and that standard tip in Italy is 10%, so after paying more than 10,000 Euros for a four night stay they were soliciting 40 Euros. At these prices it is unbecoming to solicit tips. As always, service at Four Seasons is much better than Aman although Aman properties are usually very impressive (not Venice). We asked them to arrange a water taxi to the train station and they said it would be about 75 euros to be paid directly with driver. Train station is about 12 minutes away. After about 4 minutes in the taxi the hotel called to say we left some small items in the room so we asked driver to go back to the hotel to pick them up. Arriving at train station I gave driver 100 Euros considering he turned around to pick the things but he said it was 200 Euros and not 75 as he had to go back to the hotel, I understand that he did, but 200 euros? He said it is not me, the hotel told me to charge that so I asked to call hotel, and incredibly they said yes, it is 200 euros. I do not understand what the hotel has to do with it as it was supposedly and independent driver, evidently hotel gets a cut. Again, unbecoming to leave me with a terrible feeling of being abused instead of a nice feeling. And all for 100 Euros, they are very cheap and I will not go back to Aman. They should really learn from Four Seasons, I am sure that they would have said to me "you left some stuff here so please wait for us at the train station, someone is on the way with your things" and of course charged nothing. Cheap Aman, do not go.

Arrive at airport for a seamless greeting, short car ride and boat transfer, arranged through hotel (with welcoming drivers/pilots no less). Be greeted again at the hotel by a team of staff and/or managers (maybe Licinio and Fabio). Be wowed byyour first view of an amazing property that serves as your hotel and your first tourist attraction. Be checked in by Agnesi or Ilaria or Laura or Enrico or Costanza or….all wonderful. Be taken to your room and wonder immediately how you will ever leave as you watch the gondolas pass by your window (pay up for the window view). Sleep in comfort and awaken to an amazing breakfast in a beautiful setting. If you eat dinner at the restaurant you will experience an exquisite meal. All staff at all venues are highly trained and pleasant. Eat lunch in the garden (and maybe have Danilo as your server…if you’re lucky). If you eat out, Francesco or his team will take care of you. All in all ,a treat. Just go when you next have need for the perfect place to celebrate a special event.

Aman Venice was utterly perfect. The boat captains, Alessandro and Luigi, both gave stunning tours of the islands and lagoon—they are rightly proud of the area and are incredibly knowledgeable, but they also give you the space to enjoy the beautiful boat and scenery alone as a couple too. Our room, overlooking the grand canal, had the exact right mix of serene Aman calm and Venetian character. The restaurant bookings the hotel recommended were exactly as requested and extremely good, but our “Taste the Lagoon” meal at the hotel was truly remarkable and in a league of its own. The General Manager, Licinio, was charming and incredibly thoughtful throughout our stay. The whole Aman Venice team was unimpeachable with perfect, invisible yet exacting service—from the airport pickup onwards we were airways made to feel incredibly welcome and that no request was too much all in an effortless way. We are incredibly excited to come back soon. Three nights was not nearly enough. We cannot recommend the property, the staff and the whole experience enough.

Starting with a private boat ride to the hotel is a great way to get there. The location is close to the iconic rialto bridge. When you get in you get a quick explanation of the history and background of the building and it's (former) owners. It has limited number of rooms that are fully equipped and modern by every standard, super quiet airco/heater, high end tv with apple tv, free bar in room, etc. All of which you would expect for the price tag.
The location is perfect and if you don't know it and want to reach it by walking, good luck in finding the entrance!
Unfortunately the wellness was closed due to Covid.
The staff is very helpful and attentive in general. The breakfast was great, you ask what you want and they serve it. The view from the breakfast room was amazing, the chairs for a 5 foot 6 inch (197 cm) are a little challenge, it is like sitting in an old 911!
We tried to get lunch and after an initial glitch were able to get the dinner menu.
We also tried dinner and were taking the recommendation of the chef, which was the only point we weren't impressed about.
Overall i have to say it is worth a short stay to explore the town, and also enjoy this magical place!
