Spent 4 horrible nights here... Heating not working! Old and hard bed! And the worst part was the owner's attitude, he could care less... Do yourself a favor and stay away, any savings you can make by staying here you will pay by other means! Don't ruin your Venice holiday

I stayed here with my partner at the end of February for five days. Pros: 24 hour reception, polite staff who speak English, free breakfast. Lots of TV channels. We stayed in a room just above reception and found it to be clean and warm enough. Traditional decor. A hot shower with good water pressure. Soap and shampoo provided. Location...

Pros - Good location Cons - We had to ask for everything - towels, toilet paper, etc. - Didn't change the sheets. - TERRIBLE breakfast - yoghurt had been sitting out and was not cold and was like liquid. We didn't eat it as we didn't want to get sick. Staff was there to ask what we wanted and we...

My family and I spent three nights at this hotel in December 2016, we had two rooms, one complete with a tiny kitchenette. The kitchenette had an incomplete set of mismatched dishes, not even enough for four people to all eat at the same time. We were told that the rooms were heated but the heat only (barely) worked in...

Rooms are small, very humid and bathroom is moldy. If bad coffee, cornflakes, waterly yogurth or croisant is enough for your breakfast, then you´re safe, otherwise it is very poor. Owner was friendly at the beginning but after we had a small complain he immediately turned supercilious, unfriendly, he didnt even say goodbye or thank you when we were leaving. Completly...

I booked last minute and was given a massive room. I almost didn't find the location as the address wasn't on my map app--It's actually a street over from where the address shows it. The staff was nice allowed me to keep my bag there the next day for several hours after I checked out. It was clean and had...

Place is not a hotel, more like bad and (very minimal) breakfast. Staff does not understand that they serve tourists. Very bad experience. This is unfortunate, as the place is located in an excellent place.

We were travelling with a large group, 17 persons, 3 of us in another hotel, people were arriving at different times and it became confusing when the last group arrived. The reception did not handled this very well, and were a quite rude to us, which made for an uncomfortable situation. I imagine if you are travelling with less people...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
