Hotel is not so hard to find if you follow the direction from hotel or check the previous reviewers' comments. It is clean and quite. The breakfast is not great, but, hotel in Venice is very expensive. You got what you paid for. The bathroom and bedding are clean and neat. We were in the room opposite the reception and...

Palazzo Guardi exceeded our expectations. Most of the other hotels in this price range were outside Venice and as we wanted to be in Venice and not pay a fortune, so we tried this hotel. The location meant we were very near the Vaparetto and Accademia bridge which meant we were close to everything, yet it was also very quiet...

Palazzo Guardi was truly a lovely place to stay. Though a little hard to find (its main door is located down a little side alley), its location was great - it was close to all the main atttractions and water buses. The rooms were clean and decorated in a truly lavish venetian style. The breakfast was quite good (italian croissants,...

What a nice room we had here. Very large, beautifully decorated, high ceilings and lovely canal view. It felt like a palace room. We were in the Annex. The breakfast room was very nice and we had a nice continental breakfast-cereal, rolls, pastry coffee. We had little contact with the staff, but whatever contact we did have was just fine....

I booked this hotel directly through there website (google Palazzo Guardi Venice). It was a wonderful hotel steps from the Ponte Accademia and the Accademia museum in Dorsudoro. We were searching for a hotel hi and low in and around St. Marks Square, but is was expensive and once we got there so crowded, that I'm so glad we decided...

We picked the Palazzo Guardi because it had a family room that would accomodate 5 people. We had no problem finding the hotel, just take the detailed info from other reviews and their website. The room was actually 2 rooms, one with a double bed and the other room had a double and a twin. There was no view to...

We found this hotel online at Kayak.com, and we picked it for the good price and the reviews we found here. This place is hidden away; a short walk from either the Zattere or Academia Vaporetto stops. The street it is located on is more like a narrow alley - Calle Del Pistor is about 4 feet wide, and the...

We wanted to book a three night visit to Venice and having read some of the reviews about hotels in the city I was wary about doing so. I was reassured by the reviews on Palazzo Guardi so took the plunge.Having followed advice on finding the hotel, (Take a bus to Piazzale Roma then a vaporetto to Accademia, go round...

Wonderful, Excellent, Perfect! This was the best place we stayed during our entire vacation. It is down a small alley that looks scary but don't let scare you away. This hotel is so beautiful. The hotel staff was warm and inviting. We waited about 20 minutes for our room and they gave us a free bottle of wine. Our room...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
