The hotel was really great, perfect location in the midst of a bustling street yet tranquil within the hotel itself. Beautiful rooms and clean with good customer service demonstrated by all staff.Lovely breakfast in a lovely setting (Good coffee too)

My partner and I spent 3 nights in venice and stayed at the Ca Gottardi, we arrived into the airport late so decided to treat ourselves to a private water taxi (EUR95)from the airport to the water landing at the hotel which really set the tone for the weekend and only took 20 mins. You can also get a local... More

Our party of 4 (my wife, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and I) enjoyed a perfect 3 days at Ca' Gottardi this past June, 2008. My wife and I had the good fortune to have first stayed at this wonderful hotel in June of 2004. We were eager to return with our family, and were rewarded with another exceptional - dreamy - vacation... More

This hotel is in an unbeatable location. The staff is helpful and friendly and the breakfast was wonderful, with peaceful views over the canal. The rooms are small, but that's to be expected in an old building and they are clean and well-decorated. The bathrooms were also small but clean, and my single room only had a shower. The hotel... What a lovely hotel. I saw the reviews here after I had looked on other websites and found the hotel's own site. All was as described. I do lists best, so: - It's not cheap. But nowhere in medieval Venice is. - It's scruffy from outside, but so is most of Venice. - Rooms are small by American standards, though... More

We have just returned from our stay at the Ca' Gottardi hotel in Venice and were very impressed. I booked it directly with the hotel, and they were very accomodating during the booking process- both on phone and email. They arranged a cot for our room and this was there when we arrived (often these things aren't!). It's a charming... More

Having booked this hotel on-line, we were somewhat apprehensive about trusting the pictures, etc. But, we were pleasantly surprised with the beauty and elegance of this small, but quaint bed and breakfast. We took our family of 12( 8 adults and 4 children) and anyone who travels in Europe knows this is a challenge in itself. But, the manager was... More

We stayed at the Ca Gottardi for our honeymoon. We got a water bus to a nearby drop off point and the hotel was not far from there. It could be easy to miss the door from the street but the door was always open and you could see a white marble staircase. The reception area was spotless and it... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Venice, just around the corner from Ca' d'Oro and the Casino, Ca' Gottardi's superior location is one of the best. Its rooms and ambiance aspire to be one of the most sophisticated structures in Venice where traditional art and innovative design combine in a rare elegance. Ca' Gottardi provides charming accommodations, each unique, in the most elegant Maison de Charme style. Its interiors are the result of an attention to details with regard to materials and techniques and a heightened sensitivity in approaching forms and volumes in accordance with Venetian artistic tradition. Clean and modern design is reflected in the entrance stairway of pure white marble and balustrade in crystal, where light creates unique effects. In addition to the piano nobile, guests are welcomed with a unique elegance, in which the creativity of Italian design enriched by a touch of luxury that is typical of the great patrician residences. Ca' Gottardi occupies the main floor of an antique Venetian palace from the XV century, then known as Ca' Priuli. Ca' Gottardi overlooks the Rio de Noal with a balcony covered by a beautiful late 17-th century quadrifora window. From here, you can admire Ca' Pesaro to your right, today the home of the Modern Art Gallery. Here are Ca' Gottardi's rooms, a world of class and refinement, for an unforgettable stay. Furnishings have been crafted by experts, in the classical Venetian 18th-century style, and evoke that noble elegance that has made Venice famous throughout Europe. Fine brocade curtains and carpets provide a warm contrast to a light-filled ambience created by the high ceilings and large windows. The world-famous art of glass is displayed in the chandeliers, the appliqués and in the gold-framed mirrors. Parquet floors in African woods in warm tones of red and brown are laid with rich soft carpeting. ... more   less
