This is a lovely hotel ideally situated. Very close to Ca D'oro Vaporetto stop. Is also within walking distance of St Marks Sq and the Rialto bridge. Max and Ivan are lovely hosts and are very helpful. If I go to Venice again I will definitely return to this hotel. The next time though I will book direct and ask...

First of all, the location can't be beat. It is quite and off the beaten path. Also 2 blocks from a grocery store and 2 blocks from a juice bar. Our room over looked the canal. The room was spacious and pretty. Beds comfortable and the breakfast brought to our room simple but yummy. The 2 brothers that own and...

We adored Locanda Ca' Le Vele completely - everything was wonderful starting with the hosts/owners Ivan & Max who could not be more helpful & friendly..felt like saying goodbye to friends on the day we left. The location cannot be better, the view from our little tripple room was gorgeous and at breakfast we had the BEST croissants of our...

Nice little boutique property, which is easy to access from the water bus stop. Some of the features are a little dated, but that added to the overall charm. We loved the open air courtyard in the middle, but made for a noisy night's sleep when a thunderstorm passed through! Would have given it a 5 star review, but the...

I spent 2 nights at Locanda Ca Le Vele and would highly recommend it. The hotel is located 2 mins from Ca D'Oro vaporetto stop (although we only used it to get to/from the airport as we walked everywhere), 10 minutes from Rialto Bridge and 20 minutes from St Marks square. We opted for the lead in room as were...

I recently stayed at Locanda Ca' Le Vele during a business trip to Venice and this small, boutique hotel was superb. It exceeded my expectations in many ways. On arrival we were met by the extremely friendly owner/brothers Ivan and Massimilano and shown to a beautifully appointed, spacious, clean, very comfortable room with views over the canal below. With only...

A really lovely B&B in a perfect location. We were made to feel very, very welcome from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. The owners, Ivan and Max, were very kind, generous and attentive throughout our 7 night stay and they had been really helpful with their pre-arrival information and advice. The room was a delight and...

This was a lovely B&B, with everything you need, conveniently situated about 1 min's walk from the Ca D'Oro vaporetto stop. The B&B is run by very pleasant, friendly people who are willing to help with recommendations, insider info, etc etc. The Cannaregio district was wonderful, quiet, but with lots of places to eat and drink. Our host recommended we...

I stayed at this hotel with my partner for 4 nights. Overall review: Positives: 1. Location- Very close to the vaporetto, and you can walk to the train station in 15 minutes. 2. The area is great, plenty of restaurants around. Definitely try the Ca Oro gelato! Our free walking tour started literally a 2 minute walk away from the...

We were so very happy to find this hotel. It is a short walk from the vaporetto - and there are no bridges between the vaporetto stop and the hotel. We stayed in room #1 which was very large with a good size bathroom with shower. The hosts could not have been nicer and they served breakfast each morning in...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
