The hotel is just beautiful and the staff were amazing. The décor is elegant and has many antiques but has a very relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The hotel is tucked away from the busy streets of Venice, but steps from everything you want to visit in the heart of Venice. You will not be sorry if you stay here! The...

We had a wonderful stay here for 5 nights just before Xmas. The decor was impressive, the rooms were nice, the staff friendly and efficient but most of all I loved the breakfast - great choice of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, breads, cakes, you name it. The area was also great for wandering around, and there was a good selection...

Stayed here for three nights the weekend before Christmas and could not praise the place more. The location is excellent - a ten minute walk from San Marco in an area where real Venetians live. The rooms are luxuriously appointed in a beautiful palazzo with its own garden, rare in Venice. The reception staff were so welcoming, gentle and kind...

Just 1 minute off the main walkway you find this pearl Abadessa. Perfect distance to walk all around Venice but you can also buy boat/buss passes and there are several stops nearby. Clean, neat and supernice staff that always are there with a smile. Breakfast at the hotel is also a nice treat before hitting the attractions. Private boat taxi...

Absolutely loved this hotel; great position a short walk from everything but away from the main tourist drag, very close to vaporetto stop, staff are professional, room was lovely (although our room - 16 - which has a view of the garden, also has a very low ceiling. I think next time we will book a room on the upper...

We arrived by water taxi from the Venice airport and were warmly welcomed by the staff. The check in was quick and easy. We were traveling with our 3 year old so had a lot of gear that they gladly stored at the front desk for us. The room was cozy and clean. We were upgraded our last night to...

I absolutely loved this hotel - from the moment I stepped off the vaporetto! The 17th century theme, complete with Murano glass chandeliers and damask silk wallpaper, might seem gaudy or excessive anywhere else in the world - but _here_, in _Venice_ this decor is in its natural habitat and this was exactly what I was hoping for! The location...

Great hotel with genuinely friendly and helpful staff. Location excellent for all the main sites and for travelling to the islands of the lagoon. Hotel situated in the heart of where we wanted to eat out. Will go back

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
