We arrived to Venice and finally after a while we find the hotel because is really hide. when we called to the ring someone on the phone said that anyone will come to open and 5 minutes later someone appear. The men who open told us leave the bags on the floor in the hole and follow him to the...

We had a reservation for a superior double room. Arrived there a bit late. Had a nice small talk with the receptionist. They do speak English and he was patient with my rather rusty Italian as well. Regardless we had the superior double room booking we have been given the 106 junior suit with balcony, no extra charge. As we...

Stayed in junior suite 106 which had a balcony with afternoon sun and canal view with Gondolas sailing by. Decor is very authentic and if you can live with that it is a fine place. The building with this junior suite is on the opposite site of the canal and the hotel building. Breakfast served in the hotel building was...

We booked this room for the last of our three nights in Italy. We did read that it was hard to find. To check in you need to go to the Hotel Bella Venezia. Check in was easy and the bellhop took us to our room and showed us how to work the keys. Room was clean and perfect for...

It is part of Hotel Bella Venezia , but with 2 minutes walk in a different building. Very quiet area although located in the middle of tourist area. The room has private bathroom and very clean and good facilities. Air conditioning and other stuff in the room are modern and good.

The hotel is clean and breakfast is good (at Hotel Bella Venezia). The matras of the bed is very firm, not our cup of tea. If prepared the hotel is easy to find (we read everywhere that this hotel - and also other hotels - are hard to find). Only a 5 minute walk to the San Marco Square and...

We arrived and got checked in, no problem. Room was small, but really well appointed, spotless, and just the right location at a fair price. When we checked in, the clerk told us we would only have to pay a city tax when we checked out since our room was pre-booked and pre-paid through routeperfect.com. I thought well, this is...

We booked the standard room and felt it was value for money considering we were in the centre of Venice. The room was small but it was clean with all you need when all you do is sleep there. There was plenty of hot water every morning. Finding Hotel Bella Venezia to check in was straightforward from the airport, and the...

For many years I promised my partner a trip to Venice. I found this hotel on line and did a little homework, so booking in and breakfast in the Bella Venezia came as no surprise. I also found the mapped route from Rialto to the hotel,a matter of 250 meters or so, and although a little confusing we found it...

We booked the economy room which on website quoted luxurious wallpaper and elegant design, carpeted or wooden floors - it couldn't be further from the truth and we were shocked when we were shown a shabby room which didn't even have a headboard or bedside lights and the bedspread contained baked chocolate stains which was still fresh from the previous...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
