Tucked away and only a 3 minute walk from St Marco sq, we found the hotel a great base for our mini break...slightly tired, yet the room was comfortable the staff very helpful and friendly and the buffet breakfast filling..Venice consists of a maze of alleys filled with surprises on every turn..once you have established your bearings just forget the...

The hotel's location is great ! It is close to the main square and all restaurants and shops. However, the service was not so great, when we arrived we received a very bad room, it smelled worse than the canal and it was just aweful. So we requested to switch immediatly to another room, which was not met in a...

We booked through Thomson, choosing this hotel because it had a landing jetty for private water taxis and was centrally located. Our room was comfortable but the mattress was very firm. There was a room safe; just ask reception for the key. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom. No bath but an excellent shower. Hot drink making facilities are...

great bar, very friendly. Had two glasses of wine - totalling 6 euros believe it or not, and a chill. Staff very friendly. Place locals go, very bright but comfortable, near Accademia bridge. Great place to visit when in Venice.

Nice hotel in an old palazzo down a narrow lane, almost next door to St. Mark's. Terrific choice of eating establishments in the immediate vicinity. If there's high water in St. Mark's Square you'll immediately find out from the street traders selling cheap waterproof boots in the street outside. I would be careful about the eggs and bacon for breakfast.

Just returned home from a short break in Venice. Really nice hotel, had a lovely room overlooking the canal, it was really large and very clean. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. Staff were extremely helpful. The building is old and full of character which adds to its charm. Realise the authorities don't allow the hotel to put tea...

I took my mum to Venice for her 50th birthday present. When we arrived at the hotel the staff on reception were lovely. Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
