This hotel was gorgeous and well located! A bit hard to find when you first arrive. Make sure you go all the way into the alley to the big gate at the end. I was nervous about booking a hotel in Venice as there are so many to choose from but this hotel was a real find! We stayed in...

Erica was an amazing host, and once settled in left us to our own devices to enjoy the room as our own. we had the piano suite and it was huge, with kitsch decor throughout, and a venetian murano glass chandedlier! we were given reccommendations on what to, along with a map, and were allowed to leave our bags there...

We stayed in the Marco Polo suite for four days over the Venice Carviavl. This is a classy but affordable boutique hotel in a very quiet yet very convenient corner of Venice, only a couple of hundred metres from the Piazza del Roma hub

I stayed in the B&B for the second time and it's perfect for me. It's near the bus station (10 minutes walking distance with a luggage), but in quite place. The furniture is old and everything is home-style. Breakfast is simple but with warm croissants and coffee. We had free Wi-Fi connection on the floor. The stuff is friendly. The...

We stayed in Henry's Haven for five idyllic sunny days in January. Perfect in every way. The apartment was warm despite the freezing outdoor temperatures, very comfortable for four of us and, thanks to excellent double glazing, peaceful and quiet yet in a busy and lively part of town. Excellent location as a base for exploring Venice and several good,...

We had booked an apartment, but it had heating troubles so we stayed at the B & B. It was fine for us. Everyone was very helpful with directions and suggestions. The location was perfect. Public transportation was only a few minutes walk from us and there were many restaurants nearby. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean...

We arrived on 28-12-2011 and left on 01-01-2012, we had a small room on the second floor which should have been with garden view, all we could see when opening the window was the building in front of us. The mattress was way to hard and to short for me. We slept very bad for four nights, I woke up...

Don't miss this hidden secret! A beautifully restored 16th Century palazzo, antique Murano chandeliers, personalized rooms (one ecological), breakfast in bed and nice price. Just a few min from the bus terminal I found a this beautifull treasure where I immediately felt completely at home. Silent, charming, with roof terrace, great service and just 5 min walk to the vital...

My colleagues and I stayed at Ca' Della Corte in November for a conference at the nearby Ca Foscari University. We were only expecting a place to lay our heads down at night. We got far more than that. Our rooms were large, comfortable, clean and well appointed with all those little Venetian touches. Each looked out onto the well kept side and...

Ca' della Corte, located in the wonderful Dorsodoro area of Venice is a small hotel, an old palazzo, with very nice rooms and a wonderful staff. The hotel is quite reasonable for expensive Venice and the shops and restaurants nearby are terrific. It's a quiet hotel but a short ten minute walk to San Marco. We highly recommend it. Ciao

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
