I got lost for 2 hours trying to find this hostel, the directions are absolutely shocking that they give you on the website. I asked 2 police officers, and went into 3 different hotels to ask for directions to this hostel and I still couldn't find this place. So I had to end up ringing the hostel so someone could...

It's hard to compare this hostel to others in Venice cause it's the only one I stayed in. The pros like so many other reviews say are the location and "cheap" price. The location is really nice though, I'd say you have to walk 10 minutes to get to San Marco square. There was a little kitchen and only one...

I've literally never stayed somewhere so awful. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I would say we are pretty tolerable when it comes to hostels but this was another level. Dirty, smelly, damp. Linen stained and horrific apartment. We actually dreaded coming back after a day out in the city. Awoke to loud sequels in the morning which woke us up, sounded...

We stayed here for 4 nights during the Biennial, and the pictures were different to the room we actually stayed in. Firstly, we had to pay a 10EURO late fee as we arrived after 9pm. The owner was rude and not very accommodating during the whole time were there. The room was disgusting - it smelt vile. We were told...

By the time I visited Venice, it was the best option in terms of location and price I've found. The staff was really kind and I got lucky, because the bedroom I got with my friend just had us two. The location is not that far from the main points of Venice, but it is about 3 km far from...

I stayed at Ca' Venezia with a group of students in October, and at first I thought the place was great. We had a few rooms to ourselves (it was a big group) but things quickly deteriorated. The hostel is in a good location, and it is difficult to find accommodation this cheap on the island. However, even our simplest...

Granted the hostel is in a decent location, I would much suggest finding a place for slightly more on Airbnb. We stayed as a group of about 30 people, all of which were booked into a single apartment with two bathrooms. While there was a washing machine in the unit, they did not work, and when we asked for fresh...

Went to Ca Venezia with my couple. Stayed two nights in two different rooms. This means we were lucky enough to get nex sheets. The hostel has an excellent location and it's affordable in an overpriced city like Venice. Rooms had mosquitos flying around which attacked my all the nights. Acceptable place, but with higher budget I wouldn't repeat.

To be honest its pretty hard to find cheapish places near San Marco's square, so we knew this place would be average. We arrived there and were super impressed by the location as its less than 10 minutes walk from the square and there's a cheap supermarket nearby. The first guy we met at reception was great, told us where...

The hostel has a relatively good location for walking to most of the tourist attractions and it's close to touristy shopping streets. We stayed in a 4 bed, female dorm and were disappointed with the moldy shower, 8 flights of stairs with no lift, and slow wifi with range limited to the entrance way. Would try another hostel next time...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
