We only stayed here 2 nights and this was the most expensive of the 5 hotels we stayed thru our vacation. It was not worth the price, but then again its Venice and every thing is more expensive here. It needs a lot of updating. The only thing we did like is from our room we could open the window...

I recently stayed in this hotel during my trip to Italy and I was so disappointed. The room was a suite in a separate building that had to be reached through an alley. The room was huge but very dated. The bathroom had a weird smell and moldy tiles. The beds and pillows were hard as rocks. The location is...

The decor in the lobby is beautiful, however our twin room is a cupboard, one of the beds is a fold out bed and their is not enough room for either my daughter or I to open our suitcases and walk around at the same time. We have the smallest room I have ever been in and it is the...

The suite was not luxury but pleasant and, considering the historical place, well suited for both tourists and businessmen looking for accommodations other than typical business oriented hotels. The furniture of the hotel is nice, in venitian style.

Ulthough it was 4 star hotel and a bit pricey, the room was not so good. Hard to get the right temperature when taking a shower. Water is very weak. Alot of little problems here and there. The service was also disappointing. The reception desk was very unkind. :( c'mon!!!

San Marco Palace Suites is located right at San Marco Plaza, surrounded by all the history and present of Venice. The suite has a high ceiling, wood floors, and a classy feel. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Attached the complaint letter we sent to hoteles.com where we booked a supposedly 4star Deluxe Suite for 2 and ended it up in a 3star Appartement for 4 in the back. Incredible, no reaction from hoteles.com until now and at the spot only poor excuses from the hotel! Read yourself... Dear hoteles.com Team:􀀁 Hopefully our complaint gets into the right...

I guess we cannot expect too much from a 3 star establishment in Italy especially in Venice where tourist dollars grow on trees, all hotels are almost fully booked all year round and you don't really need to provide a high level of service to ensure you receive bookings. It's almost by default. As this was our last stop in...

We had a very large suite with a giant terrace and a mini kitchen but the room was shabby at best with an old moldy bathroom and two lumpy twin mattresses pushed together to make a double bed. Also mysterious bags all over the hallways made us feel like we were staying in a service corridor. I will say that...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
