highly recommended, second time staying here. good location, easy to access via water boats. rooms are very clean. wifi is not strong in the rooms but this was not a problem. highly recommend the restaurant next door as well (Taverna Scalinetto) - very good traditional italian food.

Good location for ferry transport, access to St Marks Square. Access from Arsanale stop on the Grand Canal to hotel was very convenient and similarly ferry to the airport was excellent. Hotel rooms are clean though bathrooms are very tight. There is no lift so carrying luggage is tricky if you are on the 3rd or 4th floor. No concierge...

The room we stayed was comfortable and the location is accessible from the Arsenale stop. We had no access to their Wifi signal in the third floor. The only way we could use it was to sit in the reception area and use it :(.

Lorenzo wrote me a very welcoming email with good directions to find the place in the Venetian Mace. When I arrived he saw me walking wit ha cane and offered me a special treat. A real Venetian house in one of the streets (alleys?) nearby. It was a wonderful experience!.. He was very helpful with my questions about musea (even...

We loved the hotel and the staff were great. It's in a great location close to the water taxi stops from the airport. The bed was actually 2 smaller mattresses side-by-side and it liked to move apart a bit easy creating some tossing and turning throughout the night but other than that, a good place to hang your hat when...

Our room was fairly large and well appointed. It looked freshly painted and had pictures on the wall. The bath was small but adequate. We were on the 2nd floor and it was quiet at night and we had no trouble sleeping. We had 3windows and plenty of light. Lorenzo was helpful with directions and waiting my arrival.he also recommended...

What you get is a simple but clean and adequately equipped room with en-suite. So there is no reception seating area or bar as such and breakfast must be obtained around the corner, but this is a very expensive city (and beautiful too) and what they offer is value for money. Lets face it you are in one of the...

We booked a room online basis what was shown in the pictures but then when we reached we were asked to shift to a hotel nearby and told that rooms here are full. The option given was really bad and we asked the manager to give us the room shown on the website or we will look for another hotel...

We too were given excellent instructions on how to find the hotel. Venice is not like other cities thankfully. We were asked for cash, and after reading the feedback below I guess I know why. That money was deducted from them, not their bankcard provider, so they no longer provide the service. Thats ok with us. ATMs are everywhere. We...

If you prebook via a hotel booking website ensure to cancel 9 days before your arrival date, not 7, as this establishment will not give ANY reimbursement. Not ideal when every penny counts when travelling. Even when it's peak season and they would have no trouble filling the room . Unimpressed.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
