I came from Mexico to Venice with some friends and stayed at Silk Road Hostel. Great experience we have in here! I suggest to make reservations for the doble room and the private room because is in an apartment and have so much privacy, it really feels like home! We told the staff that we leave next day at 4:00...

For the price I paid I can't criticise anything the rooms were spacious the views incredible, and the breakfast was reasonable. The bathroom was large and spacious with 1 on each floor. Each bed has a locker that fits a small case.

I thought Silk Road was perfectly placed - far enough away from the crowds of Venice centre to be quiet, but not too distant that it was out of reach of anywhere. Vaporetto stops are very close anyway and can be reached without any danger of getting lost. I arrived by water bus anyway (which stops about 1 minute's walk...

Venice is small and crowded by tourists. Streets are narrow. So this place by the big canal gives a feeling of freedom and rest from busy day of exploring Venice. Nearby you can find everything you need: river bus stop, ATM, supermarket, nice pizza and ice-cream place, even a spring of clean water on the street (so you can save...

The whole place feels like home. Beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are always clean. Will stay again in this Bed&breakfast/hostel if revisiting Venice. The location is great as well. The staff are also friendly and helpful...especially in giving recommendations and advices in terms of things to do in the city.

Just arrived back from Venice this week. Had a wonderful time with my other half. I found Silk Road via trip advisor and some research and decided to book it as it looked great. Asked if we could get a room for two and 2 nights and found it easy to book. We arrived in venice via the train station...

Had a good time in this hostel. The rooms are spacious and mine had a view over the water. The kitchen was small, and there aren't many places to socialise out of your room. It's a little out of the way for a lot of things, but there are vaparetto stops close by and easy access over to Lido and...

Silk Road is definitely more of a bed and breakfast than a hostel. However, the price was pretty great, especially seeing as we booked the week of during Carnevale. The location was also nice - it was about 15 minutes from the central areas and about 15/20 minutes from the train and bus stations. We stayed in a 4-person mixed...

The Silk Road Guesthouse is a smaller hostel; don't expect something massive and flashy, like a Generator. Instead expect to feel personally cared for. The Silk Road feels like a well-kept secret in Venice. It has free breakfast (apples, coffee, toast, croissants, cereal) and the owner, Alex, is often walking around singing to himself. We arrived before the check-in slot...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
