It was our first time going on a holiday with our daughter. The hotel management answered all our online queries promptly. We requested for some things for our daughter and they provided it free of charge. Fresh towels were provided daily, the room had ample space for all our things, there's a mini bar, a small tv, and closets to...

We read some of the bad reviews but you really do not need to worry!! Yes there are three flights of stairs and yes you have to carry your own bag! If you can't carry it, you shouldn't bring so much. The hotel itself is a great size, the rooms are petit but not tiny. There is plenty of room...

This hotel's location really couldn't be any better, a very short walk from St Mark's Square. Staff okay and fairly pleasant but no more - nothing to complain about in terms of the service but nobody excelled either. Breakfast okay. Room was Venetian in style, with furniture and fittings to fit in with this but all looked a bit tired...

We spent a weekend in Venice recently, and stayed at Hotel Lisbona. I choose the hotel because of its location (close to St Marks Sq and water taxi stop) and its price - it is very well priced for this location. Positives: - Location. This is the number one for this hotel - it is max a 5min walk from...

A lovely Venetian Hotel in a very good central location. I recommend it to all! Comfortable, clean and great service. Upon our arrival, the owner Christiano, came to greet us and helped us with our luggage, unaware that he was the owner! very kind and helpful gentleman, he gave us instructions and recommendations for our stay. Decent breakfast, good sized...

Agreed, you're in Venice, on the banks of a canal. Agreed, it is quite lovely to look out of your window and see a gondola. But: the rooms are tiny , and old. You have a long climb up unending stairs to reach your room - and no one offers to help with the luggage. The breakfast parlour is tiny...

We spent three nights here. Yes the rooms are small but space is tight everywhere and they are perfectly functional and quiet at night despite central location. The reception staff were friendly and always happy to help with lots of local knowledge and help. The hotel is close to St Mark's square and next to a gondola station. Breakfast was...

On the plus side: Location, location, location! The hotel is tiny but full of character. We even liked its being a bit down-at-heel and musty - just like Venice itself. Perfect! Minuses: The room was advertised as being 20sqm, which did not turn out to be the case. It was 12-15sqm at best, with the bathroom and miniscule anteroom accounting...

Stayed for one night in the Lisbona Hotel. It is a small 3 star hotel in a good location- close to San Mark's Square. Hotel rooms are on three different levels-- a lot of stairs. The rooms are extremely small and the lighting is limited, as is the air conditioning. The linens are great as was the breakfast. Free wifi.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
