Great location, breakfast was continental but good-excellent coffee machine and room decorated nicely. Hairdryer less powerful than a handheld fan and no ironing facility were real frustrations as my partner struggled to dry her hair. The staff were quite aloof and seemed to shrug off our questions or queries such as where we could see some live music other than...

We stayed here for just one night, fantastic location two minute stroll and you are on San Marco square! The staff were friendly and helpful, plenty to choose from at breakfast! We had a canal view which is great as it's nice to watch the Gondolas go by, if you're lucky some might sing!!! So the bathroom is small but...

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We got a room that overlooked the hotel, which was cool, but not sure it was worth the extra money. It was a nice, somewhat unique hotel. Bathroom was redone and nice. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was pretty good. I would recommend.

This small hotel is located so close to San Marco, many restaurants, and great shopping. It has a very helpful staff and is decorated in a turn-of-the-century style. The room was small but had a view overlooking a side canal where gondoliers gathered. There is no elevator.

Located close to Piazza San Marco. Rooms are clean and tidy eith a Venetian decor on a canal. However, rooms are tiny and if you have luggage there is nowhere to store it in your room. There is also only stairs, no lift, so if booking ask for a low floor. We were on the 3rd floor and the stairs...

I booked this hotel because of the views of the canal and the price for this was cheap in comparison to many others however I do admit I wasn't expecting much. However I was pleasantly surprised! Firstly the location is excellent! We got a boat from the airport to st marks and it was a short walk from there, very...

It was our first time going on a holiday with our daughter. The hotel management answered all our online queries promptly. We requested for some things for our daughter and they provided it free of charge. Fresh towels were provided daily, the room had ample space for all our things, there's a mini bar, a small tv, and closets to...

We read some of the bad reviews but you really do not need to worry!! Yes there are three flights of stairs and yes you have to carry your own bag! If you can't carry it, you shouldn't bring so much. The hotel itself is a great size, the rooms are petit but not tiny. There is plenty of room...

This hotel's location really couldn't be any better, a very short walk from St Mark's Square. Staff okay and fairly pleasant but no more - nothing to complain about in terms of the service but nobody excelled either. Breakfast okay. Room was Venetian in style, with furniture and fittings to fit in with this but all looked a bit tired...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
