The hotel is located nothing more than a 20 second walk from San Marco square, and if you head the other way is not far from the Grand Canal/Rialto Bridge. The rooms are vintage Italian, which in some ways is nice, in others not, depending on what you enjoy. For the price you pay you can't expect much more, apart...

Rooms are tiny even by europe standards. Clean but extremely old hotel. 2 mins walk to san marco square or less but elevator good for 2 persons and a room with space for just 1 luggage. Another star goven for the friendly staff though but be warned rooms are tiny.

The room was small, no air conditioning until June? Long weekend to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary so didn't complain too much didn't want to spoil the celebration as my wife, Maggie, had no idea until the night before we left! Booked online with British Airways as a package which run smoothly throughout but found the aircraft seat spacing was...

We stayed here for two nights and were pleased. It is a little dated but was clean. Can't say enough about how great the location is. All of the staff was friendly. We didn't take part in the breakfast so I can't comment on that.

Be warned if you book a standard room at this hotel it will be very small more like a single with a double bed in it. Room 209 was allocated to us you could not fully open the wardrobe doors as they hit the bed and when in bed my wife could put her hand out of the window .It...

Reviewer: 32, female, London, married. INCREDIBLE location right by San Marco sq. Couldn't be a better location. But average hotel. Clean but dated and somewhat basic. Breakfast plenty but nothing memorable. TV two channels. FYI girls - no conditioner, hair towels, face towel! Please note however - Venice is most expensive city we've visited by far so comparably it's good...

Good location near San Marco piazza but room furniture are old and out of date. Bathroom and towels are clean but still doesn't let you feel better about the room. Small 17 or 19" tv and and small garderob. Breakfast is ok with good variety. Not recommended for family or couples with a romantic dreams about Venice:)

Great spot, only 150metres from St Marks Square, so ideal for the main tourist attractions of Venice ! Good Hotel, the room was all that we expected. Plentiful and varied Breakfast. Only slight downside was that their bar was not open for a night cap !

I fully understand that this is a very old city and consequently so are all the buildings, but I am always horrified at what seems to pass as a 4 star hotel in this city. Surely in the country were great interior decorating and good design taste often originate, whats on offer as hotel interiors can not be deemed acceptable....

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
