Location of the hotel is right in the center of Venice. Next to the top sighseeings. It is nice small hotel with friendly stuff. Rooms are a little bit small but clean and in nice vintage style. In general we were satisfied with the hotel.

This was our first time in Venice, so we wanted somewhere very central. The location is fantastic, and is extremely close to everything. We arrived late at night, and were welcomed with an enthusiastic and friendly receptionist. As we were checking in our receptionist gave us detailed information on our map of many different parts of Venice, and attractions to...

Stayed for 1 night in a quad room. Two adults and two children. Hotel is grind and we needed to keep a brave face for the sake of the children. Room had no view - one window is at 12 foot and the other looks out onto a grubby enclosed quad. Room was ok but very basic indeed considering we'd paid...

Stayed here for 3 nights from the 10.2.17,Just off St marks square, couldn't be more central. You do need to climb some stairs to get to the reception area but its well worth it. Check in was quick and dealt with by I think Marcello who was more than helpful. Now the rooms are quite small but you have all...

Lovely little hotel hotel, very central to get round and see everything quickly. Breakfast was basic but absolutely fine, nice being up n the roof terrace, maybe not for you if you have a fear of pigeons. Its a bit of a pain to find, google maps took us to a completely different place about 15 minutes walk away. The...

My family of 4 stayed in a family room for 3 nights. Great spot next to San Marco Piazza. Friendly staff, nice room, good continental breakfast. Excellent value for money and a great base to explore Venice.

These people are friendly, helpful, and affordable, and you can hold your breath walking from the front door to S. Marco. The staff were extra helpful to my antiquated mother. Rooms comfortable and beds a good size - rather regret being too jet-lagged to take full advantage of this!

You could not find a better located hotel for this price. Breakfast was simple but good. The warm croissants were delicious. Having said that, we were really disappointed after dragging our luggage up the stairs, that we were taken to a completely different building around the corner, to our room. There was no explanation for this, and as far as...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
