Visited as two couples and chose the family suite. Spent three nights and it was an excellent choice. Rooms very clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff very pleasant, spoke good English. Breakfast plentiful. View of the grand canal from the lounge balcony really good. Location suited us very well as it is centrally situated in the city, making everywhere easily accessible.

We choose this hotel by the reviews but we were disappointed in it. There was a language bearer with the concierge - not able to understand English. She was unable to make recommendations on site-seeing and restaurants. The view of the river is only from the lounge and not hotel rooms.

So centrally located and right on the Grand Canal! The staff was welcoming and very accommodating. We checked-in late in the afternoon only to find that our requested two twin beds were placed together as a full size bed. The gentleman (never got his name) was so sweet to help us pull the beds apart and remake the bed for...

The hotel is an adventure of its own, located on the third floor of a 14th century palace. Twelve rooms make up the hotel, so it is quiet, quaint, and relaxed. Morning breakfast was very basic, but we were offered cappuccino and scrambled eggs. The view of the Canal from the lounge is breathtaking. We stayed in room 4, which...

The hotel is hidden in an old 1300th palace. You enter a courtyard and see a large empty groundfloor and think you are in the wrong place. But on the third floor you will find this welcoming family hotel. A lounge facing the canal with rooms on both sides. We had a corner room with double aspects of the canal....

The Locanda is a beautifully kept hotel on the Grand Canal. It is about a twenty minute walk from the train station though the sign to the hotel is not obvious but we found it. We were in room 7 which was huge by European standards and very comfortable and quiet. The bed was very nice and the ac worked...

Lovely hotel. Excellent friendly staff. Rooms quite spacious and very clean. Very nice breakfast. Nice lounge with views overlooking Grand Canal. Easy to find. We took vaperetto from Piazza Roma to Ca D'Oro station then a 5 minute walk. Very nice area to stay in. Can see the Rialto Bridge from balcony

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights. Clean and comfortable room and hotel. Very gracious staff. Great location on the grand canal. Exactly what I was looking for. Very nice breakfast with eggs and everything you would want. Since we were leaving before breakfast, Alessio prepared a little breakfast for us. Would recommend and stay here again

loved staying in this part of town! The room was perfect for our one night in Venice! They were also very accommodating in letting us check in as early as 11am. There was a delicious gelateria just a block or two down from the hotel. would definitely stay here again!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
